1983 Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship
The 1983 Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship was the 93rd staging of the Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Tipperary County Board in 1887. Moycarkey-Borris were the defending champions. On 30 October 1983, Borris-Ileigh won the championship after a 0–17 to 1–11 defeat of Loughmore-Castleiney in the final at Leahy Park. It was their fifth championship title overall and their first title since 1981. John Grogan (hurler)
John Grogan (born 1956 in Cashel, County Tipperary, Ireland) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a full-forward for the Tipperary senior team. A dual player in the minor and under-21 grades, Grogan made his first appearance for the Tipperary senior team in the 1976 championship. He was a semi-regular member of the team over much of the next decade. During that time he failed to land any honours as his inter-county career coincided with a sharp downturn in Tipperary's fortunes. Noel O'Dwyer
Noel O'Dwyer (born 26 December 1948) is an Irish former hurling, hurler. At club level he played with Borris–Ileigh GAA, Borris–Ileigh and was also a member of the Tipperary senior hurling team. Career O'Dwyer played hurling as a schoolboy at Templemore CBS where he won a Dr. Kinane Cup and three successive Dr. Croke Cup titles. He first played for Borris–Ileigh GAA, Borris–Ileigh at juvenile and underage levels and was part of the team that won the club's inaugural Tipperary U21AHC title in 1969. Mick Cowan
Michael Cowan (1948 – 10 May 2010) was an Irish hurler who played as a left wing-forward for the Tipperary senior team. Regarded as one of Tipperary's most versatile players ever, Cowan joined the team during the 1969 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 1977 championship. His career coincided with a sharp downturn in the fortunes of the team, and he ended his playing days without any success. Seán Fitzpatrick (hurler)
Seán Fitzpatrick (born 1951) is an Irish former hurler. At club level he played with Carrick Swans and was also a member of the Tipperary senior hurling team. Career Fitzpatrick first played hurling at juvenile and underage levels with Carrick Swans. He won several divisional titles in the minor and under-21 grades, before winning a Tipperary U21AHC title in 1972. By this stage Fitzpatrick had joined the Carrick senior team and won six South Tipperary SHC medals between 1974 and 1986. Fitzpatrick never played at minor level for Tipperary, however, his club performances earned a call-up to the under-21 team that won the Munster U21HC title in 1972. John Cormack
John Cormack (born 1964) is an Irish retired hurler. His league and championship career with the Tipperary senior team lasted the 1988-89 season. Born in Loughmore, County Tipperary, Cormack came to prominence as a hurler and Gaelic footballer with Templemore CBS. He first appeared for the Loughmore–Castleiney club at juvenile and underage levels, before eventually joining the club's senior teams as a dual player. During a successful club career, Cormack won three county championship medals in both codes. Cormack made his debut on the inter-county scene when he was selected for the Tipperary minor team in 1981. He enjoyed two championship seasons with the minor team, culminating with the winning of an All-Ireland medal in 1982. He subsequently joined the under-21 team, winning an All-Ireland medals in 1985. Tom McGrath (Gaelic Footballer)
Thomas McGrath (born 1956) is an Irish former hurler and Gaelic footballer. At club level he played with Loughmore–Catsleiney as a dual player and was also a member of the Tipperary senior football team. Career McGrath first played hurling and Gaelic football at juvenile and underage levels with the Loughmore–Catsleiney club. Cappawhite GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club is located in the village of Cappawhite, County Tipperary, bordering on County Limerick in Republic of Ireland, Ireland.
