1983 New England Patriots Season
The 1983 New England Patriots season was the franchise's 14th season in the National Football League and 24th overall. The Patriots played inconsistently all season, but at 8–7 had a chance for a playoff spot with a win in their final game of the season in Seattle. The Patriots would have problems with turnovers as rookie quarterback Tony Eason was swallowed up in a 24–6 loss to the Seahawks. Tony Eason
Charles Carroll "Tony" Eason IV (born October 8, 1959) is a former American football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for eight seasons, primarily with the New England Patriots. Taken 15th overall by the Patriots in the 1983 NFL Draft, he was one of the six quarterbacks selected during the first round. Eason served as New England's primary starter from 1984 to 1986, where he helped the team make their Super Bowl debut in Super Bowl XX. 1982 Clemson Tigers Football Team
The 1982 Clemson Tigers football team was an American football team that represented Clemson University in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) during the 1982 NCAA Division I-A football season. In its fifth season under head coach Danny Ford, the team compiled a 9–1–1 record (6–0 against conference opponents), won the ACC championship, was ranked No. 8 in the final AP Poll, and outscored opponents by a total of 289 to 147. The team played its home games at Memorial Stadium in Clemson, South Carolina. The defending national champion, Clemson started the year with a loss to Georgia and a tie with Boston College. Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. Johnny Lee Rembert (born January 19, 1961) is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker for 10 seasons with the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center (American football), center and the offensive tackle, tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for Blocking (American football), blocking. Stephen Dale Starring (born July 30, 1961) is an American former professional football player who was a wide receiver and return specialist for six seasons in the National Football League (NFL). After attending Vinton High School, Starring played quarterback for McNeese State University. He was MVP for the Cowboys football team at the 1980 Independence Bowl and 1980 Offensive Player of the Year of the Southland Conference (SLC), gaining 1,980 yards of total offense, including 974 rushing yards, a school record for rushing yards by a QB.
