1983 National Camogie League
The 1983 National Camogie League is a competition in the women's team field sport of camogie was won by Dublin, who defeated Wexford in the final, played at Russell Park. Arrangements Dublin were becoming known as league specialists as the competition entered its eighth season, partly because the Dublin championship was a winter competition and reached its climax in April and players reached a higher level of fitness than many of their opponents. Dublin defeated Louth, Galway, Kilkenny, Antrim and Down while Wexford defeated All-Ireland champions Cork in their opening game, Clare, Tipperary and Limerick. For the final Dublin had eight of the team that won the league title in 1979 and nine from 1981. Rathnure St Anne's is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Rathnure, County Wexford, Ireland. Rathnure's most famous players are the Rackards and Quigley brothers. First AGM At a meeting in Rathnure in the year 1931, Rathnure St Anne's GAA Club was founded. Founder members on that night were Pat Byrne, James O'Leary, Pat Doyle, Thomas Murphy, Nick Mernagh, Denis Brennan and Master O'Rielly. Buffers Alley is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the villages of Kilmuckridge and Monamolin in County Wexford, Ireland. The club fields teams in Intermediate hurling, Gaelic football and camogie. It competes in Wexford competitions. History The Buffers Alley club is one of the oldest in Wexford, founded in the late 1870s. It came quickly to the fore and won its first title in 1905. Twenty-three lean years followed for the club but the spirit of the men of 1905 eventually bore fruit when they won another junior title in 1928. Austin Stacks is a camogie club that won the All-Ireland Senior Club Camogie Championship in 1971 and 1972. The club won a further Leinster championship in 1973 and the Dublin Senior Championship on 11 occasions.
