West Palm Beach Municipal Stadium
West Palm Beach Municipal Stadium, referred to as "Municipal Stadium," is a former baseball park in the southeastern United States, in West Palm Beach, Florida. Located at 755 Hank Aaron Drive, it was the long-time spring training home for the Milwaukee and Atlanta Braves and Montreal Expos. The Braves played spring training games at the stadium from 1963 to 1997, while the Expos played there from 1969 to 1972 and from 1981 to 1997. Kenneth Allan Phelps (born August 6, 1954) is an American former professional baseball designated hitter and first baseman. He played for six different Major League Baseball (MLB) teams from 1980 to 1990, primarily with the Seattle Mariners. Baseball statistician Bill James cited Phelps as an example of a player who is unfairly denied a chance to play in the majors, despite compiling strong minor league statistics. Butch Benton
Alfred Lee "Butch" Benton (born August 24, 1957) is a former Major League Baseball right-handed catcher. He was selected sixth overall in the 1975 Major League Baseball Draft by the New York Mets. Early years Benton played both football and baseball at Godby High School in Tallahassee, Florida. He declined a football scholarship to the University of Florida when the Mets drafted him in the first round of the amateur draft. After four seasons in their farm system, in which he batted .275 with 22 home runs and 189 runs batted in, he made the jump from double A to the major leagues at age 21 in when he joined the Mets as a September call-up. Jerry Lorenzo Manuel Sr. (born December 23, 1953), nicknamed "The Sage," is a former major league manager. He previously managed the Chicago White Sox from 1998 to 2003 and the New York Mets from the middle of 2008 to 2010 and played in the majors for parts of five seasons in the 1970s and early 1980s.
