1983 Badminton World Cup
The 1983 Badminton World Cup was the fifth edition of an international tournament Badminton World Cup. The event was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 16 August to 21 August 1983. China won titles in 3 disciplines : Both the singles events and Women's doubles. South Korea won Men's doubles while cross country pair from Denmark and England won the mixed doubles title. Razif Sidek
Datuk Razif Sidek (born 29 May 1962) is a former badminton player from Malaysia and coach. Personal life He is the second eldest of the famous five Sidek brothers. Razif and his siblings gained exposure about badminton sport from their father, Sidek Abdullah Kamar, Haji Mohd Sidek. Under the guidance of his father, Razif and the rest of his siblings were destined to be Malaysia's champions. In addition, Razif Sidek is one of the alumni of Victoria Institution (batch 1974–1980). He is married to a former model, Khalidah Khalid and the couple is blessed with five children. In addition, his youngest son, Mohd Fazriq is also active in badminton just like his father. Thomas Kihlström
Thomas Kihlström (born 11 December 1948) is a former badminton player from Sweden known for his agility, tactical astuteness, and coolness under pressure. Though an impressive singles player early in his career, his greatest successes came in doubles. Career Kihlström won the 1983 IBF World Championships in mixed doubles with Nora Perry. He also won 16 medals at the European Championships, two of them in men's singles, two in mixed doubles, five in men's doubles and 7 in team competition. He shared two All-England men's doubles titles, one with Bengt Fröman in 1976 and the other with Stefan Karlsson in 1983. Gillian Margaret Clark (born 2 September 1961) is an English badminton commentator and former badminton player who specialized in doubles. Badminton career World Championships Clark won two bronze medals at the World Championships a decade apart; for women's doubles in 1983, and for mixed doubles in 1993. Xu Rong (badminton)
Xu Rong (born around 1958), is a former badminton player from China, who ranks among the best of her time. Career Xu Rong was one of the main Chinese players who dominated the women's game after China joined the International Badminton Federation in 1981 in both singles and doubles. She was well known for her all-rounded excellence on the court, and she won the National Championships in singles (1977).
