1982–83 Cupa României
The 1982–83 Cupa României was the 45th edition of Romania's most prestigious football cup competition. The title was won by Universitatea Craiova against Politehnica Timișoara. Craiova were unable to play in the 1983–84 European Cup Winners' Cup though, as the closing date for entries was a week before the final. As a result, both the President and Secretary of the Romanian FA – Andrei Rădulescu and Florin Dumitrescu were sacked. Format The competition is an annual knockout tournament. First round proper matches are played on the ground of the lowest ranked team, then from the second round proper the matches are played on a neutral location. In the first round proper, if a match is drawn after 90 minutes, the game goes in extra time, if the scored is still tight after 120 minutes, the team who played away will qualify, if the teams are from the same league, then the winner will be established at penalty kicks. U Craiova 1948 Club Sportiv, commonly known as Universitatea Craiova (), CS U Craiova, or simply U Craiova, is a Romanian professional football team based in Craiova, Dolj County, which competes in the Liga I, the top tier of the Romanian league system. Initially founded in 1948 as the football section of the ''CSU Craiova'' sports club, it was part of it until 1991, when its berth in the league championship was taken by FC U Craiova following privatisation. Clubul Sportiv Șoimii Lipova, commonly known as CS Șoimii Lipova, or simply Șoimii Lipova, is a Romanian professional football club based in Lipova, Arad County. The team was founded in 1974 and played in the Divizia C for 14 years, between 1980 and 1994. The most important result was a 1st place in the 11th series, achieved at the end of the 1991–92 season. FC Sportul Studențesc, commonly referred to as Sportul is a Romanian professional football club based in Bucharest, that last played at senior level in the Liga IV. Founded in 1916, Sportul Studențesc was one of the oldest Romanian clubs still active. The club's best European performance came in the 1979–80 Balkans Cup, when it won the trophy, defeating Yugoslavian side NK Rijeka in the final.
