Tomás "Tommy" La'O Manotoc Sr. is a Filipino people, Filipino golfer and former basketball coach. The 1981 CDCP Road Builders season was the second and final season of the franchise in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Colors (dark) (light) Summary The Construction Development Corporation of the Philippines (CDCP), a company owned by Rodolfo Cuenca, assumed the PBA franchise of the Galleon Shippers (a CDCP affiliate) for the 1981 season. The team acquired Manny Paner from Presto and brought in 6-11 Edmund Lawrence and 6-9 James Lister (brother of Alton Lister) for the Open Conference, forming the tallest import combination in PBA history. On March 10, 1981, CDCP won its first game of the season by limiting Presto to an all-time lowest output of 69 points in the 95–69 victory. Manny Paner
Manuel Paner (born May 17, 1949), better known as Manny Paner, is a Filipino retired professional basketball player. Player profile Paner was born in Cebu City, Philippines. During his prime, he was known for his strong rebounding, defense and deadly hook shot. At a mere 6'2", he would play center and sometimes defend the opposing team's American imports. During the late 1960s and early 1970s, Paner played for the San Miguel Braves in the MICAA, along with other Cebuano cagers Rosalio Martirez and Alejandrito Miego, to a name of few. During the PBA's inaugural season in 1975, he was the center in the league's first Mythical Team, and in 1978, he left Royal Tru-Orange to sign with Great Taste what was then the league's biggest contract that paid him a whopping Php8,000 a month. Lim Eng Beng (Chinese: 林嚶鳴; November 10, 1951 – December 21, 2015) was a Chinese Filipino basketball player who spent twelve seasons in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) from 1975-1986. Early life Lim was born and raised in Tondo, Manila from an impoverished family. When he was 5 or 6 years old, his family stayed in an informal settlement. It was around this time where the young Lim would use his passion in basketball as a means to climb out of hardship and support his family.
