1982 Minnesota Vikings Season
The 1982 season was the Minnesota Vikings' 22nd season in the National Football League and their first in the newly constructed Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. The team was looking to improve on its 7–9 record from 1981. However, a players strike meant seven of the team's 16 games were canceled, and each NFL team was only allowed to play nine games. The Vikings won their opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before losing the next week to the Buffalo Bills, a game in which they had a 19–0 lead before the Bills pulled off a miraculous comeback to win 23–22. After the strike ended, the Vikings lost 26–7 to the Packers in Green Bay before beating the Bears 35–7 the following week to sit at 2–2. After a loss to the Dolphins, the Vikings won their next two games to sit at 4–3. National Football Conference
The National Football Conference (NFC) is one of the two conferences of the National Football League (NFL), the highest professional level of American football in the United States. The NFC and its counterpart, the American Football Conference (AFC), each contain 16 teams organized into 4 divisions. Both conferences were created as part of the 1970 NFL merger with the rival American Football League (AFL), with all ten of the former AFL teams and three NFL teams forming the AFC while the remaining thirteen NFL clubs formed the NFC. A series of league expansions and division realignments have occurred since the merger, thus making the total of 16 clubs in each conference. The National Football League All-Star Game (1939–1942), Pro Bowl (1951–2022), or Pro Bowl Games (starting in 2023) is an annual event held by the National Football League (NFL) featuring the league's star players. Steve Jordan (American Football)
Steven Russell Jordan (born January 10, 1961) is an American former professional football tight end who played in the National Football League (NFL) for the Minnesota Vikings from 1982 to 1994. Early life and education Steve Jordan grew up in Phoenix, Arizona and graduated from South Mountain High School. A multi-sport athlete, he played football, basketball, and tennis in high school, but he concentrated on academics. He attended college at Brown University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the Brown University School of Engineering in 1982. In addition to his engineering coursework, he tried out for the football team and made the varsity lineup his sophomore year. Boston College Eagles Football
The Boston College Eagles football team represents Boston College in the sport of American football. The Eagles compete in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) as a member of the Atlantic Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. Jim Fahnhorst
James John Fahnhorst (born November 8, 1958) is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers in the National Football League (NFL) from 1984 through 1990. He was a member of three Super Bowl champions with the 49ers and started in Super Bowl XIX, XXIII and XXIV. Fahnhorst grew up in St. Cloud, Minnesota and graduated from St. Cloud Tech High School. He played college football for the Minnesota Golden Gophers, earning first-team All-Big Ten honors from AP and UPI in 1981. He is the younger brother of the late former 49ers' tackle Keith Fahnhorst. In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center (American football), center and the offensive tackle, tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for Blocking (American football), blocking. Terry Tausch
Terry Wayne Tausch (February 5, 1959 – March 25, 2020) was an American professional football player who was a guard in the National Football League (NFL). Tausch played tight end on the New Braunfels High School football team. He was recruited by the University of Texas at Austin, where he played as an offensive tackle. He was an All-American in 1980 and 1981, and selected in 2001 for the Texas Athletics Hall of honor. The Minnesota Vikings made Tausch a second-round draft choice in 1982 with the 39th overall draft pick. He played seven seasons for Minnesota in 68 games at right guard and one season for the San Francisco 49ers when they won Super Bowl XXIV. Terry and his wife, Ela, had two sons, Nicholas and Eric.
