1982 Men's Hockey Junior World Cup
The 1982 Men's FIH Hockey Junior World Cup was the 2nd edition of the Men's FIH Hockey Junior World Cup, the triennial men's under-21 field hockey world championship organized by the International Hockey Federation. It was held at the Tun Abdul Razak Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 14 to 28 August 1982. Pakistan were the defending champions but lost to Australia in the semifinals. Penalty Shoot-out (field Hockey)
A penalty shootout is a method used in field hockey to decide which team progresses to the next stage of a tournament (or wins the tournament) following a tied game. Two methods have been used: the original penalty stroke competition is a best-of-five penalty strokes with sudden death if scores were level after five strokes. An alternate penalty shoot-out competition was introduced at major tournaments in 2011. Sometimes known as a penalty shuffle, the method is similar to penalty shots in ice hockey and consists of one-on-ones between an attacking player and a goalkeeper. Hockey Junior World Cup
The Men's FIH Hockey Junior World Cup, formerly known as the Hockey Junior World Cup, is an international field hockey competition organized by the International Hockey Federation (FIH). The tournament was started in 1979. Since 1985 it has been held every four years.With the exception of the 2021 tournament,competitors must be under the age of 21 as of December 31 in the year before the tournament is held. There is also a corresponding event for the women's junior teams. This competition started in 1989 and uses the same format as the men's event. Five countries have dominated the event's history. Germany is the most successful team, having won the tournament six times followed by Argentina and India, having won the tournament two times. Australia and Pakistan have each won the tournament once. The 2009 Junior World Cup was held jointly between Malaysia and Singapore, with Germany defeating the Netherlands 3–1 in the final. The 1982 Men's Hockey World Cup was the fifth edition of the Hockey World Cup, the quadrennial world championship for men's national field hockey teams organized by the FIH. Overtime (sports)
Overtime or extra time is an additional period of play specified under the rules of a sport to bring a game to a decision and avoid declaring the match a tie or draw where the scores are the same. In some sports, this extra period is played only if the game is required to have a clear winner, as in single-elimination tournaments where only one team or players can advance to the next round or win the tournament. The rules of overtime or extra time vary between sports and even different competitions. Some may employ " sudden death", where the first player or team who scores immediately wins the game.
