1982 Gulf Cup Of Nations
The 6th Arabian Gulf Cup ( ar, دورة كأس الخليج العربي السادسة) was the sixth edition of the Arabian Gulf Cup. The tournament was held at the Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and took place between 19 March and 4 April 1982. Kuwait won their fifth title after defeating Oman 2–0 on 29 March. Iraq also took part in the competition, but they withdrew after their match against the UAE. Match officials Tournament The teams played a single round-robin style competition. The team achieving first place in the overall standings was the tournament winner. Matches 1 The match was declared null and void after Iraq withdrew from the competition. Brian McGinlay (born 24 August 1945) is a retired football referee from Scotland, who officiated in 98 European club competition and international matches. Refereeing career At the domestic level McGinlay has refereed 21 Old Firm derbies, during which he never sent off a player, but he considers his most nerve-racking match to be the Rangers–Aberdeen title decider match at the climax of the 1990–91 season. In European club football he judged his most exciting match to be the Real Madrid– Borussia Mönchengladbach third-round second-leg UEFA Cup match.
