1982 FAMAS Awards
The 30th Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Awards Night was held in 1982 in the Philippines. This is for the Outstanding Achievements of the different films for the year 1981. This is the first year in FAMAS history that 3 films won most of the awards. Kumander Alibasbas of JE Productions won the FAMAS Award for Best Picture including the fifth best actor award for Joseph Estrada. Pakawalan mo Ako won the best actress award for Vilma Santos. and FPJ Productions' Pagbabalik ng Panday won most of the minor awards. Each of the films won 3 awards. The Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Awards (also known as the FAMAS Awards) are the annual honors given by the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS), an organization composed of award-winning writers and movie columnists, for achievements in Philippine cinema for a calendar year. Members of the academy including avid movie viewers, fans or enthusiasts cast their votes on who should win the statuettes in the different categories they were nominated. Established in 1952, it is the oldest existing film industry award-giving body in the Philippines (as of 2013) and one of the oldest in Asia. Rodolfo Valentino Padilla Fernandez (March 3, 1952 – June 7, 2008), better known as Rudy Fernandez or Daboy, was a Filipino actor and producer. He came to prominence as an action star in Philippine cinema during the 1980s up to the early 1990s. Early life and career Fernandez was born at 8:36 PM on March 3, 1952 at Mary Johnston Hospital in Tondo, Manila. He is the eldest son of the late film director Gregorio Fernandez and actress Pilar Padilla (daughter of José Padilla Sr.). Both his parents were from Lubao, Pampanga, which he considered his hometown. He made his film debut at the age of three, appearing in ''Luksang Tagumpay'' (1956), which was directed by his father.
