WFA Cup
The Women's FA Challenge Cup is the top annual cup tournament for women's clubs in English football. Founded in 1970, it has been named the WFA Cup, FA Women's Cup, and now Women's FA Cup (currently known as the Adobe Women's FA Cup for sponsorship reasons). Designed as an equivalent to the FA Cup in men's football, the competition began in 1970–71 as the Mitre Challenge Trophy, organised by the Women's Football Association (WFA). There were 71 entrants, including teams from Scotland and Wales. The WFA ran the competition for the first 23 editions, during which time Southampton won the cup eight times. The Football Association (FA) began administering English women's football in mid-1993. Arsenal holds the record for most titles overall, having won fourteen times. Linda Curl
Linda Curl is an English former footballer who played as a midfielder or forward for the England women's national football team winning 62 caps and scoring 27 goals. At club level she won the WFA Cup with Lowestoft Ladies in 1982 and also with Norwich in 1986, scoring in both finals. Club career At Lowestoft Ladies Curl won her first WFA Cup with a 2-0 victory over Cleveland Spartans at Loftus Road. She scored the opening goal for the team known as The Waves. Curl was signed by Norwich manager Maureen Martin (nee Reynolds), who was a former team-mate of Curl's in the 1979 WFA Cup final which Lowestoft Ladies lost 1-0 to Southampton WFC. Whilst at Norwich, Curl scored 22 of the goals in a 40-0 win versus Milton Keynes Reserves in the Chiltern League Division Two in September 1983. Angela Poppy
Angela Poppy (born 19 November 1953) is a former England women's international footballer and Women's FA Cup winner. Club career Poppy's greatest achievement in her club career was scoring the winning goal in the 1982 Women's FA Cup final with Lowestoft Ladies F.C. against Cleveland Spartans. Poppy, who worked as an accounts clerk, struck a powerful shot into the top corner of the goal to make the score 20. They maintained their lead to win the final 20 at Loftus Road. It was second time lucky for Poppy after she was part of the Lowestoft Ladies side that lost the 1979 WFA Cup final to Southampton WFC at Jubilee Park, Waterlooville.
