1981–82 V-League
The 25th national football championship in Vietnam known locally as the Vietnam National A1 Football Cup was played from March 1981 until April 1982. 17 clubs participated in this edition, including top 14 teams of the previous season, 2 newly-promoted teams and Thể Công ( Câu lạc bộ Quân đội) returned after the absence in 1980 due to internal reasons. 17 teams took part in the competition that was played in two stages; a Group Stage featuring 2 groups of 9 and 8 teams and a Championship stage featuring the top three from each group. Vietnamese Super League
The V.League 1 ( vi, Giải bóng đá vô địch quốc gia, lit=National Football League), also called Night Wolf V.League 1 due to sponsorship reasons, is the top professional football league in Vietnam, controlled by the Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company. It is contested by 14 clubs who play each other on a home and away basis. The team finishing at the top at the end of the season is crowned the champion and enters the AFC Champions League. The league was founded in 1980 as the All Vietnam Football Championship, with Tổng Cục Đường Sắt emerging as the first winner. The league turned professional in the 2000–01 season, which allowed clubs to hire foreign players. Vietnam Professional Football (VPF) was established in 2012, and the organising power was transferred from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) to Vietnam Professional Football Jointstock Company (VPF). 1980 V-League
1980 saw the inaugural national football championship in Vietnam known locally as the Vietnam National A1 Football Cup. Seventeen teams took part in the competition that was played in two stages; a Group stage featuring 3 groups of 6 and 5 teams and a Championship stage featuring the three group winners. Originally there are 18 teams, with 8 from Hồng Hà League in the North, 2 from Trường Sơn League in the Central and 8 from Cửu Long League in the South. However, defending all-Vietnam champions Thể Công ( Câu lạc bộ Quân đội) withdrawn due to internal reasons. The 26th national football championship in Vietnam known locally as the Vietnam National A1 Football Cup was played from December 1982 until May 1982 17 teams again took part in the competition that was played in three stages; a Group stage featuring 2 groups of 9 and 8 teams of which the top four qualified for stage two.
