1981 Mr. Olympia
The 1981 Mr. Olympia contest was an IFBB professional bodybuilding competition held on October 10, 1981, at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Columbus, Ohio. Following the 1980 Mr. Olympia political controversy, a number of favored bodybuilders boycotted the event, including Frank Zane, Mike Mentzer, and Boyer Coe. Jusup Wilkosz
Jusup Wilkosz (8 November 1948 – 19 November 2019) was a German bodybuilder. He competed in weightlifting before turning to bodybuilding. In the mid-1970s, Wilkosz trained with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Several injuries forced him to end his career before reaching his potential peak. In 1994 Jusup Wilkosz intended to prepare for the Mr. Olympia Masters, but was stopped by injuries again. In spring 2007, a semi-fictional novel about Wilkosz's life was published in Germany with the title ''Was bleibt. Die Reise des Jusup W.'' (English "What remains: The Journey of Jusup W."). It leads the reader back to the 1970s and 1980s, a time often considered the golden age of bodybuilding. Ken Waller
Kenny Waller (born March 20, 1942) is an American former bodybuilder featured in the 1977 movie ''Pumping Iron'', which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger. Waller also won the 1975 International Federation of Bodybuilders (IFBB) Mr. Universe contest in Pretoria, South Africa. He was known for his curly red hair, freckles and his graceful, confident posing style. Early life Ken Waller was born on March 20, 1942. He is originally from Jeffersonville, Indiana. He attended Western Kentucky University at Bowling Green (class of 1965), where he was a member of the undefeated 1963 Tangerine Bowl football team. A photograph of Waller still hangs in the WKU football team's locker room. Ken could often be found at the 13th St. Barber Shop near WKU where his buddies, Howard Poindexter, Fred Turner, and Slick Thurman cut hair. Michael Katz (born November 14, 1944) is a former American IFBB professional bodybuilder and former professional football player with the New York Jets, most famous for his appearance with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1977 bodybuilding documentary film ''Pumping Iron''. He was paid $1,000 to sign a release for appearing in the film. Mike Katz played football for Southern Connecticut State University and pro football for the New York Jets before ending his football career with a leg injury in 1968. Katz appeared in the documentary '' Challenging Impossibility'', commenting on the weightlifting odyssey of spiritual teacher and peace advocate Sri Chinmoy. Steve Davis (born 22 August 1957) is an English retired professional snooker player who is currently a commentator, DJ, electronic musician and author. He is best known for dominating professional snooker during the 1980s, when he reached eight World Snooker Championship finals in nine years, winning six world titles, and held the world number one ranking for seven consecutive seasons. He was runner-up to Dennis Taylor in one of snooker's most famous matches, the 1985 World Championship final, which ended in a dramatic black-ball conclusion that attracted 18.5 million viewers, still the largest British television audience for any broadcast after midnight and any broadcast on BBC Two. Ed Corney (November 9, 1933 – January 1, 2019) was an American professional bodybuilder. He won many prizes in his 30s, including Mr. Universe twice (in 1971 and 1972), and Mr. America once (in 1972). He resumed competitive bodybuilding in his 60s, when he won the 60+ division of the Masters Olympia twice. He appeared in the 1977 docudrama ''Pumping Iron'', as well as the " Dead Lift" episode from ''The Streets of San Francisco'' broadcast that same year (in which Arnold Schwarzenegger played one of his first prominent roles).
