1980 Guangdong–Hong Kong Cup
Guangdong-Hong Kong Cup 1979–80 is the 2nd staging of this two-leg competition between Hong Kong and Guangdong. The first leg was played in Hong Kong Stadium on 30 December 1979 while the second leg was played in Guangzhou on 13 January 1980. Yuexiushan Stadium
The Yuexiushan Stadium () is a multi-purpose stadium in Guangzhou, Guangdong, China, named for its location at the foot of Yuexiu Hill. It is currently mostly used for football matches and also sometimes for athletics. It is located on 4 Yingyuan Road. The stadium is owned by the Guangzhou Sports Bureau. The original stadium at the same location opened before 1926. In 1950, it was completely rebuild with a capacity for 35,000 people. However, following renovation and the installation of fixed seating in 2012, the capacity is now 18,000. The stadium is best reached by taking Guangzhou Metro Line 2 to Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall Station. History In the Qing dynasty, it was originally the location of the ammunition depot. Yang Ning
Yang Ning (Chinese 杨宁 born in 1962) is a Chinese former football goalkeeper who played for Guangdong and the Chinese national team who he represented in the 1984 Asian Cup. Career Yang Ning grew up into a football family and quickly rose through the ranks before he graduated into the senior team of Guangdong within the 1978 Chinese league season. The following season he went on to be part of the team that went on to win the 1979 Chinese league title. This soon saw him called up to the Chinese national team in 1980, which made him the youngest goalkeeper ever to be included in the national team. Rong Zhixing
Rong Zhixing or Rong Zhihang (; born 30 July 1948) is a retired Chinese footballer who played for Guangdong. He represented China PR in the 1976 Asian Cup and qualifying for the 1982 FIFA World Cup . Biography Rong was born in a ship on the journey from China to India, his family came from Taishan, Guangdong. His family lived in India until 1953, when they returned to China and settled in Guangzhou. Rong started his career playing for the Guangzhou youth football team, after that he was elected to the Guangzhou worker football team. In 1966 Rong join Guangzhou football team. In 1969, Rong was elected to the Guangdong football team, he was called up to the Chinese national team and played in the 1976 Asian Cup, with China earning third place. Chen Xirong (born 1953 in Guangzhou) is a former Chinese international football player and coach as well as also being a media pundit. Cai Jinbiao (; born 1954) is a former Chinese international footballer who played as a defender. He represented Guangdong FC where he won the 1979 Chinese league title as well as playing for the Chinese national football team in the 1980 Asian Cup.
