The 1980 Fiji rugby union tour of Argentina was a series of matches played between October and November by the Fiji national rugby union team in Argentina. It was the first visit of a rugby union team from Polynesia to Argentina. Fiji National Rugby Union Team
The Fiji national rugby union team represents Fiji in men's international rugby union competes every four years at the Rugby World Cup, and their best performances were the 1987 and 2007 tournaments when they defeated Argentina and Wales respectively to reach the quarterfinals. Fiji also regularly plays test matches during the June and November test windows. Fiji also plays in the Pacific Tri-Nations, and has won the most Pacific Tri-Nations Championships of the three participating teams. Fiji is one of the few countries where rugby union is the main sport. There are approximately 80,000 registered players from a total population of around 950,000. Carlos Serrano (born August 29, 1963, in Bogotá, Colombia) is a recorder and early woodwinds player. He completed high school studies at Colegio San Carlos in Bogotá. After studying recorder at Oberlin Conservatory in Ohio and Mannes College of Music in New York with Philip Levin, and with Pedro Memelsdorff in Italy, he graduated from the Early Music Institute at Indiana University as pupil of Eva Legene and Michael McCraw. In 1988 he founded the early music ensemble Musica Ficta (Colombia), with which he has specialized in the performance of Latin-American and Spanish renaissance and baroque music. With this ensemble he has performed in Europe, the Americas, the Far and Middle East. Gabriel Travaglini
Gabriel Travaglini (born in Buenos Aires, 14 February 1958) is an Argentine retired rugby union player. He played as number 8. He played for CASI for all of his entire career. As of April 2022, he is the chairman of Unión Argentina de Rugby. Career Travaglini debuted with Club Atlético San Isidro against Banco Nación, in September 1977, playing as lock. Between 1980 and 1986, Travaglini was the captain for CASI. His first match for Argentina was against Italy, on 24 October 1978. He was also part of the 1987 Rugby World Cup Pumas roster, playing all the three matches, ending his international career in the pool stage match against the All Blacks. Navitalai Senilagakali (1952–2006) was a Fijian rugby union footballer. He played as a Fly Half and represented Lautoka. He was renowned for kicking a penalty resulting in the ball flying above the goal post gaining them 3 points. That same ball flew above the spectators, above the stadium in Argentina and also above the soldiers on guard on top of the Ferrocarril Oeste, Buenos Aires Stadium.
