The CONMEBOL Preolímpico ( en, Pre-Olympic Tournament) is an international association football event in the South America region organized by CONMEBOL. It is the qualification tournament for the football tournament at the Olympic Games. In 1960, teams from North and Central America also entered the tournament. The football tournament at the 1980 Summer Olympics started on 20 July and ended on 2 August. Only one event, the ''men's tournament'', was contested. Seven qualified countries did not participate joining the American-led boycott in protest of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. The Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation (RSSSF) is an international organization dedicated to collecting statistics about association football. The foundation aims to build an exhaustive archive of football-related information from around the world. History This enterprise, according to its founders, was created in January 1994 by three regulars of the Rec.Sport.Soccer (RSS) Usenet newsgroup: Lars Aarhus, Kent Hedlundh, and Karel Stokkermans.
