1979 Supertaça De Portugal
The 1979 Supertaça de Portugal was the 1st edition of the Supertaça de Portugal although not the 1st official edition, the annual Portuguese football season-opening match contested by the winners of the previous season's top league and cup competitions (or cup runner-up in case the league- and cup-winning club is the same). The 1979 Supertaça de Portugal took place at the Estádio das Antas in Porto, home of FC Porto on the 17 August 1979, thus opening the 1979-1980 season. It was contested between two team from the city of Porto, F.C. Porto, the winners of the 1978–79 Primeira Divisão, and Boavista F.C., the winners of the 1978–79 Taça de Portugal. Supertaça Cândido De Oliveira
The Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira (; English: Cândido de Oliveira Super Cup, or simply Portuguese Super Cup) is an annual Portuguese football match played since 1979 between the winners of the Portuguese League (Primeira Liga) and Portuguese Cup (Taça de Portugal). When a team wins both competitions (thus achieving the double (''dobradinha'')), it plays again against the Cup runners-up. The Supertaça has been organised by the Portuguese Football Federation since 1981 and is usually played in August, right before the start of the league season. The trophy is named after former player, coach and sports journalist Cândido de Oliveira. Fernando Mendes Soares Gomes (22 November 1956 – 26 November 2022) was a Portuguese professional footballer who played as a striker. António Manuel Frasco Vieira (born 16 January 1955), known as Frasco, is a Portuguese former footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. Best known for his 11-year spell with Porto, he appeared in more than 300 official matches for the club and won a total of 13 major titles. Mário Jorge Moinhos Matos (born 13 May 1949), known as Moinhos, is a Portuguese former footballer who played as a forward. Club career Born in Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto District, Moinhos started playing professionally in 1969, with Porto's Boavista FC. After two solid last seasons, especially 1972–73 where he scored 15 goals in 29 games to help his team rank seventh, he moved to Primeira Liga giants S.L. Benfica.
