The 1979 Southwest Texas State Bobcats football team was an American football team that represented Southwest Texas State University (now known as Texas State University) during the 1979 NAIA Division I football season as a member of the Lone Star Conference (LSC). Lone Star Conference
The Lone Star Conference (LSC) is a college athletic conference affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division II level. Member institutions are located in the southwestern United States, with schools in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Arkansas. Three schools in the Pacific Northwest—one each in Oregon, Washington, and the Canadian province of British Columbia—became football-only members in 2022. The Lone Star Conference operates from the same headquarters complex in the Dallas suburb of Richardson as the American Southwest Conference.
