The president of Mexico ( es, link=no, Presidente de México), officially the president of the United Mexican States ( es, link=no, Presidente de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos), is the head of state and head of government of Mexico. Under the Constitution of Mexico, the president heads the executive branch of the federal government and is the commander-in-chief of the Mexican Armed Forces. Rafael Rodríguez Barrera (February 1, 1937 – December 3, 2011) was a Mexican politician, lawyer and ambassador. He held office as the Governor of the Mexican state of Campeche from 1973 until 1979. Rodríguez also served as the President of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) from 1992 to 1993. Rodríguez Barrera began his career as a lawyer. The governor of Baja California represents the executive branch of the government of the state of Baja California, Mexico, per the state's constitution. The official title is "Free and Sovereign State of Baja California" (''Estado Libre y Soberano de Baja California''), and the position is democratically elected for a period of 6 years, and is not re-electable. José Refugio Esparza Reyes (August 23, 1921 – November 12, 2015) was a Mexican teacher, politician and member of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI).
