1979 FIFA World Youth Championship
The 1979 FIFA World Youth Championship, the second staging of the FIFA World Youth Championship, was held in Japan from 26 August to 7 September 1979. It was the first FIFA tournament played in Asia. The tournament took place in four cities — Kobe, Omiya, Tokyo and Yokohama — where a total of 32 matches were played, four more than in the previous edition due to the addition of a quarterfinal round in the knockout stage. Argentina won the trophy after beating holders Soviet Union 3–1, in a final held at Tokyo's National Stadium. Argentina fielded an attack-minded high-scoring team, averaging 3.33 goals per game. They were led by the powerful duo of Diego Maradona and Ramón Díaz, who were the tournament's best player and top scorer respectively. Andoni Cedrún
Andoni Cedrún Ibarra (born 5 June 1960) is a Spanish retired footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He appeared in 351 La Liga matches over 17 seasons, representing mostly Zaragoza with which he won three major titles, including the 1995 Cup Winners' Cup. He started his career with Athletic Bilbao. Club career Born in Durango, Biscay, Cedrún was a youth product at Athletic Bilbao, and managed to appear in 21 first-team matches in his first professional season, at only 20. This was prior to the promotion of another Lezama graduate, legendary Andoni Zubizarreta, which then left him two years without any La Liga appearances. Luis Miguel Gail Martín (23 February 1961) is a Spanish former football central defender and manager. He amassed La Liga totals of 266 matches and 29 goals over one full decade, representing Valladolid and Betis. Club career Gail was born in Valladolid, Castile and León. After emerging through their youth ranks, he made his senior debut for local club Real Valladolid at only 16. He first appeared in La Liga in the 1980–81 campaign, competing with the side in that level in six straight seasons, scoring 51 competitive goals and helping to the conquest of the (short-lived) Copa de la Liga in his final year, against Atlético Madrid. Manolo Zambrano
Manuel "Manolo" Zambrano Díaz (born 8 March 1960) is a Spanish former football midfielder and manager. Playing career Born in Huelva, Andalusia, Zambrano finished his youth career at Recreativo de Huelva, and made his first-team – and La Liga – debut on 3 September 1978 at the age of only 18, coming on as a second-half substitute in a 3–0 home win against Real Zaragoza. On 18 May 1980 he scored his first professional goal, the last in a 3–1 away victory over Getafe Deportivo in the Segunda División. Zambrano signed for neighbouring CD Málaga in summer of 1984, and scored his first goal in the top division on 30 March of the following year, opening a 1–1 home draw with RCD Español. His team was eventually relegated at the end of the season, and he signed with fellow league club Sevilla FC shortly after.
