Ron Ingram
Ronald Walter Ingram (July 5, 1933 – June 30, 1988) was a Canadian ice hockey defenceman and coach. He played 114 games in the National Hockey League for the New York Rangers, Chicago Black Hawks, and Detroit Red Wings between 1956 and 1965. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1953 to 1970, was spent in various minor leagues. After his playing career Ingram worked as a coach in various leagues, including with the San Diego Mariners and Indianapolis Racers of the World Hockey Association from 1975 to 1978. Playing career Born in Toronto, Ontario, Ingram played junior hockey with the Toronto Marlboros then moved onto senior hockey's Stratford Indians. He played 114 games in the National Hockey League for the New York Rangers, Chicago Black Hawks, and Detroit Red Wings between 1956 and 1965, often as a reliable midseason call-up. 1977–78 WHA Season
The 1977–78 WHA season was the sixth season of the World Hockey Association (WHA). Eight teams played 80 games each. The Avco World Trophy winner was the Winnipeg Jets. League business With a reduction of three teams from the end of the previous season (the San Diego Mariners, Phoenix Roadrunners, and Calgary Cowboys folded), the WHA abandoned its divisional format and grouped the remaining eight teams together. There had been a tentative merger agreement that would have had Cincinnati, Houston, New England, Winnipeg, Quebec, and Edmonton join the NHL but it could not be finalized. In a unique move, two international All-Star teams, the Soviet All-Stars and Czechoslovakia All-Stars, played games that counted in the regular season standings. Rick Vasko
Richard John Vasko (born January 12, 1957) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman who played in the National Hockey League for the Detroit Red Wings. Career As a youth, Vasko played in the 1970 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Cedar Hill, Toronto. Mike Bossy
Michael Dean Bossy (January 22, 1957April 15, 2022) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player with the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League. He spent his entire NHL career, which lasted from 1977 to 1987, with the Islanders, and was a crucial part of their four consecutive Stanley Cup championships in the early 1980s. Bossy won the Calder Memorial Trophy in 1978 as NHL rookie of the year when he set the then-record for most goals by a rookie with 53. He won the Conn Smythe Trophy in the 1982 Stanley Cup playoffs as the most valuable player and the Lady Byng Trophy for combining high quality play with sportsmanship three times. He led the NHL in goals twice and was second three further times. Bossy was voted to the league's first all-star team as right wing five times, with three further selections to the second all-star team. Dale McCourt
Dale Allen McCourt, (born January 26, 1957), is a former professional ice hockey forward. He was drafted first overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 1977 NHL amateur draft. Junior hockey McCourt played major junior in the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA, renamed OMJHL during his tenure, today's OHL). As a 15-year-old, he was already playing Tier II junior hockey when called up by the Sudbury Wolves for part of the 1972–73 OHA season. He joined the Hamilton Red Wings for the full 1973–74 OHA season, and was team captain by the time the (renamed) Hamilton Fincups won the 1975–76 OMJHL Championship and then the national 1976 Memorial Cup championship. In 1976–77, McCourt led the relocated St. Catharines Fincups as the team won the OMJHL Regular Season Championship. That season, McCourt was awarded the Red Tilson Trophy as the league's Most Outstanding Player and was voted the nationwide CHL Player of the Year. Douglas Wilson (ice Hockey)
Douglas Frederick Wilson (born July 5, 1957) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman, who later served as general manager of the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League. Playing career After a junior hockey career for the Ottawa 67's in the Ontario Major Junior Hockey League, Wilson was drafted in the first round, sixth overall, in the 1977 NHL Entry Draft. He then played 14 seasons with the Chicago Black Hawks and two years for the San Jose Sharks in the National Hockey League. He was the first captain in Sharks history, serving two years before retiring after the 1992–93 season. Wilson played 14 seasons in Chicago and still ranks as the club's highest-scoring defenceman in points (779 — sixth overall), goals (225 — 12th overall) and assists (554 — third overall).
