French Television
Television in France was introduced in 1931, Timeline of the introduction of television in countries, when the first experimental broadcasts began. Colour television was introduced in October 1967 on France 2, La Deuxième Chaîne. Digital terrestrial television The digital terrestrial television platform was launched on 31 March 2005 after a short testing period. Like Freeview (UK), Freeview in the UK, it provides many new channels, as well as the current terrestrial television stations. Like the rest of Europe, France uses the DVB-T transmission technology. The 13 first digital free channels were launched on 31 March 2005. In October, 4 additional free channels were added: the 24h news channels BFM TV and I-Télé, the music and entertainment youth channel Europe 2 TV, and the free children channel Gulli, joint-venture between Lagardère Active and France Télévisions. It replaces the Simca 1100 in France, and runs alongside the Chrysler Avenger saloon and estate in Britain. Albert Dieudonné
Albert Dieudonné (26 November 1889 – 19 March 1976) was a French actor, screenwriter, film director and novelist. Biography Dieudonné was born in Paris, France, and made his acting debut in silent film in 1908 for ''The Assassination of the Duke of Guise'', with musical score by Camille Saint-Saëns. In 1924, he directed the film drama ''Catherine'', in which he also appeared as a major character. Jean Renoir acted as his assistant director on the film. Between 1915 and 1916, Dieudonné acted in five films for director Abel Gance, including the 1915 film ''La Folie du Docteur Tube'' and the 1916 film '' Le périscope''. In 1927 he was hired back to star in the title role in Gance's epic film, ''Napoléon''. In 1929 Dieudonné wrote a novel that was made into a 1930 musical comedy film titled ''The Sweetness of Loving'', and he wrote the script for the 1936 '' La Garçonne''. Virginie Guilhaume (born 30 November 1977) is a French television presenter. Television career Education and beginnings on France 2 Virginie Guilhaume graduated from the École supérieure de journalisme de Paris. She began her career as a production assistant for television presenters, including Thierry Ardisson, Guillaume Durand and Michel Drucker. First a journalist, image reporter, then chief editor, France 2 gave her the opportunity in February 2007 to present entertainment programs. She joined the channel to host with Olivier Minne special evening shows like ''La Saint Valentin en chansons''. She then presented during summer 2007 the program ''Les Rois du Rire'', broadcast on Saturday during the second part of the evening. Christophe Beaugrand
Christophe Beaugrand (born January 2, 1977) is a French television presenter and journalist. Early life and education Christophe Beaugrand was born in Massy in the department of Essonne. During his adolescence, he wrote for television series and comics in a child magazine. In 1992, he made his debut in audiovisual starting in radio. He began his career as a radio presenter in a local radio station of the Essonne and later on Ado FM. In the meantime, he studied journalism at the CELSA of Neuilly. In 1988, he participated at a talent show hosted by Jacques Martin where he finished among the finalists. After a hypokhâgne, he graduated at the IUT de Journalisme of Bordeaux in 1999, he made freelance works for printed media, especially for ''France Soir''. 30 millions d'amis (English: "30 million friends") is a French television program, a French monthly magazine with its posters, and a French foundation: the Fondation 30 Millions d'Amis. All three focus on pets, especially cats, dogs, horses, ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, hamsters, mice, canaries, parakeets, parrots, terrarium reptiles, goldfish, aquarium fish, and other exotic pets, but also wild animals like for example, bonobos and cheetahs. Television program The first episode of the program, initiative of the French journalist Jean-Pierre Hutin, who was worried about the fate of pets, was broadcast on 6 January 1976 on TF1. It is one of the television programs that has the fifth-longest longevity of the French audiovisual field, after ''Des chiffres et des lettres'', ''Automoto'', ''Thalassa'' and ''Stade 2''. ''Aujourd'hui'' (, ''Today'') was a daily newspaper which styled itself as "independent" and which was created in August 1940 by Henri Jeanson, to replace ''le Canard enchaîné'' under agreement with the Germans. The first issue appeared on 10 September 1940. In November 1940, the German authorities pressured the director into taking a public position against the Jews and in favour of politics of collaboration with the Vichy regime. Jeanson resigned, and was succeeded by the journalist Georges Suarez. ''Aujourd'hui'' was far from innocent in its pursuit of those responsible for the 1940 defeat of France, resorting to the myth of the "clean sweep of the broom" in its notorious Anglophobia. It began to reflect the narrative of Marshal Philippe Pétain and of German propaganda. The paper was in favour of the Riom trials which were set up to punish the members of the pre-war government who were allegedly responsible for France's defeat in 1940. It has now become the customary French title of respect and term of address for a French-speaking man, corresponding to such English titles as Mr. or sir. Marie Myriam
Marie Myriam (born Myriam Lopes, 8 May 1957, Luluabourg, Belgian Congo, (now Democratic Republic of the Congo) is a French singer of Portuguese descent. Career Representing France, she won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1977 with '' L'oiseau et l'enfant'' ("The bird and the child") the day before her 20th birthday, with music by Jean Paul Cara and words by Joe Gracy. The single reached No. 42 in the UK Singles Chart in June 1977. In 1981, Myriam also represented France in the Yamaha Music Festival with the song "Sentimentale"; she came in ninth place. In recent years, she has read out the votes of the French Jury at the Eurovision Song Contest. Myriam made an appearance at the 50th anniversary concert in Copenhagen, Denmark, in October 2005 as a guest presenter and performer.
