1977 NCAA Skiing Championships
The 1977 NCAA Skiing Championships were contested in Winter Park, Colorado at the 24th annual NCAA-sanctioned ski tournament to determine the individual and team national champions of men's collegiate downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, and ski jumping in the United States. Five-time defending champions Colorado, coached by Bill Marolt, once again claimed the team national championship, finishing 24.5 points ahead of Wyoming in the standings. The United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) is the sports federation for college sports, collegiate skiing and snowboarding in the United States. With over 180 member colleges, the USCSA fields some 5,000 men and women, alpine, Nordic, freeski and snowboard athletes in over 200 competitive events annually. The 1959 NCAA Skiing Championships were contested in Winter Park, Colorado at the sixth annual NCAA-sanctioned ski tournament to determine the individual and team national champions of men's collegiate alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, and ski jumping in the United States. Colorado, coached by Bob Beattie, captured their first national championship, edging out rival Denver in the team standings. The sole repeat individual champion was Denver's Clarence Servold, in cross country. Venue This year's championships were held March 27–29 in Colorado at Winter Park, west of Denver. These were the second NCAA championships at Winter Park (and in Colorado), which previously hosted in 1956. Williams Ephs Ski Team
The Williams Ephs ( ) are the varsity intercollegiate athletic programs of Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts. The school sponsors 32 varsity sports, most of which compete in the Division III New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC). The school's men's and women's ski teams and men's and women's squash teams compete in Division I. The Ephs' nickname (which rhymes with "chiefs") is a shortened form of the name of Ephraim Williams, the college's founder. The Ephs' mascot is a purple cow, and their colors are purple and gold. The Middlebury Panthers are the 31 varsity teams of Middlebury College that compete in the New England Small College Athletic Conference. The Montana Grizzlies and Lady Griz are the nicknames given to the athletic teams of the University of Montana, located in Missoula. Johnson State College was a public liberal arts college in Johnson, Vermont. Founded in 1828 by John Chesamore, in 2018 it was merged with the former Lyndon State College to create Northern Vermont University. The Alaska Nanooks are the intercollegiate athletics teams that represent the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The Nanooks name is derived from the Inupiaq " nanuq", meaning polar bear. Northern Michigan Wildcats Ski Team
The Northern Michigan Wildcats are the athletic teams that represent Northern Michigan University, located in Marquette, Michigan, in NCAA intercollegiate sporting competitions. All teams that play under NCAA governance compete at the NCAA Division II, Division II level, with three exceptions. The most significant one is the men's ice hockey program, which plays at the NCAA Division I, Division I level.
