1977 Montreal Expos Season
The 1977 Montreal Expos season was the ninth season in the history of the franchise. The team finished fifth in the National League East with a record of 75–87, 26 games behind the Philadelphia Phillies. This was the Expos' first year in Olympic Stadium, after playing their first eight seasons at Jarry Park. 1977 Philadelphia Phillies Season
The 1977 Philadelphia Phillies season was the 95th season in the history of the franchise. The Phillies won their second consecutive National League East division title with a record of 101–61, five games over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Jackie Gene Brown (May 31, 1943 – January 8, 2017) was an American professional baseball pitcher and coach, who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Washington Senators / Texas Rangers, Cleveland Indians, and Montreal Expos from 1970 –1977. Brown threw and batted right-handed. His older brother, Paul Brown, also pitched in the big leagues. Andre Thornton
André Thornton (born August 13, 1949), nicknamed "Thunder", is an American former professional baseball player and business entrepreneur. He played in Major League Baseball as a first baseman and designated hitter from to , most prominently as a member of the Cleveland Indians where, he was a two-time All-Star player and won a Silver Slugger Award. He also played for the Chicago Cubs and the Montreal Expos. In 1979, Thornton was named the recipient of the prestigious Roberto Clemente Award for his involvement in local community affairs. After his playing career, Thornton owned a chain of restaurants as well as his own sports marketing firm. He was also the CEO and chairman of a supply chain management company. In 2001, he was voted one of the 100 greatest players in Cleveland Indians' history by a panel of veteran baseball writers, executives and historians. Roger Vernon Freed (June 2, 1946 – January 9, 1996), was an American professional baseball outfielder, who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Baltimore Orioles, Philadelphia Phillies, Cincinnati Reds, Montreal Expos, and St. Louis Cardinals, from to . Bill Greif
William Briley Greif (born April 25, 1950) is a retired professional baseball pitcher. He played all or part of six seasons in Major League Baseball, from 1971 to 1976, for the Houston Astros, San Diego Padres, and St. Louis Cardinals. Astros Greif graduated from John H. Reagan High School (Austin, Texas). He was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1968 Major League Baseball Draft by the Astros, making his major league debut with them three years later. He was traded along with Derrel Thomas and Mark Schaeffer from the Astros to the Padres for Dave Roberts on December 3, 1971. Padres Greif pitched four full seasons and part of a fifth with the Padres. A knuckle-curve specialist, he was the team's Opening Day starter in 1974, then in 1975 he was moved full-time to the bullpen. Anthony Scott (born September 18, 1951) is a former American professional baseball center fielder and coach. Career Montreal Expos Scott was drafted by the Montreal Expos in the 71st round of the 1969 Major League Baseball draft. After five seasons in their farm system, he received a September call-up to the Expos in . He appeared in eleven games as a pinch runner, and received only one at-bat, in which he struck out.
