Television In Estonia
Television in Estonia was introduced in 1955, following the Soviet government's decision to establish a television station in 1953. The National TV Channel ETV has maintained an archive since 1955 in which broadcasts of unique aspects of Estonian culture are held. Northern Estonia receives television signals from Finland. During the 1970s and 1980s, Finnish broadcasts were more popular than Soviet-Estonian offerings until the Singing Revolution, with many Estonians enjoying ''Dallas'' and other programs portraying non-Communist lifestyles. Digital television was officially launched on December 15, 2006 when the operator Eesti Digitaaltelevisiooni AS launched its pay service ZUUMtv, operated by Starman, on two multiplexes. In 2006, only ETV was available for free, but as of March 2009, there are already 7 free channels in digital broadcast. Digital television signal ( DVB-T and DVB-H) is broadcast by Levira. Katrin Pärn
Katrin Pärn (born 20 May 1977) is an Estonian stage, film and television actress and singer. Early life and education Katrin Pärn was born in Tallinn to actor, theatre founder, and director Eino Baskin (1929–2015) and actress and politician Malle Pärn (born 1945). She had one older half-brother, actor Roman Baskin (1954–2018), from her father's first marriage to actress Ita Ever. She attended primary and secondary schools in Tallinn before enrolling at the EMA Higher Drama School (now, the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre), graduating in 2000 under the direction of Ingo Normet. In 2008, she received a master's degree in the dramatic arts from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. She has also lived and studied abroad in the United States, New Zealand and Germany. Maarja Jakobson
Maarja Jakobson (born 8 December 1977) is an Estonian television, stage and film actress whose career began in the late 1990s. Eraly life and education Maarja Jakobson was born in Tartu in 1977. She is distantly related to 19th-century writer and politician Carl Robert Jakobson, who played a pivotal role in the Estonian national awakening. She graduated from the 15th Secondary School of Tartu (now, the Tartu Descartes Lyceum) in 1995 and enrolled at the University of Tartu to study German for a year before enrolling in the performing arts department of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in Tallinn in 1996 to study acting under the direction of theatre pedagogue and stage director Ingo Normet, graduating in 2000. Among her graduating classmates were actors Kersti Heinloo, Margus Prangel, Eva Püssa, Katrin Pärn, Tambet Tuisk, Piret Simson and directors Urmas Lennuk, Tiit Ojasoo and Vahur Keller.
