American Football
American football (referred to simply as football in the United States and Canada), also known as gridiron, is a team sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end. The offense, the team with possession of the oval-shaped football, attempts to advance down the field by running with the ball or passing it, while the defense, the team without possession of the ball, aims to stop the offense's advance and to take control of the ball for themselves. The offense must advance at least ten yards in four downs or plays; if they fail, they turn over the football to the defense, but if they succeed, they are given a new set of four downs to continue the drive. Points are scored primarily by advancing the ball into the opposing team's end zone for a touchdown or kicking the ball through the opponent's goalposts for a field goal. Johnny Davis (American Football)
Johnny Lee Davis (born July 17, 1956) is a retired American football running back who played ten seasons in the NFL (1978–1987). Davis was a member of the 1981 San Francisco 49ers team that won Super Bowl XVI. He is a graduate of Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery, Alabama, and the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. High school career Davis was a team captain as a senior at Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery, Alabama. He was a four-year letter winner for coach Bill Joiner as a running back and linebacker. He also made the ''Coach and Athlete'' magazine High School All-America Team in 1973, the ''Birmingham News'' First-team All-State 1973, All-Class 4A 1973, All-City 1973, and was named Mr. Back in Montgomery. 1977 College Football All-America Team
The 1977 College Football All-America team is composed of college football players who were selected as All-Americans by various organizations and writers that chose College Football All-America Teams in 1977. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) recognizes four selectors as "official" for the 1977 season. Ben Zambiasi
Benjamin Ray Zambiasi (born August 19, 1956) is a former linebacker for the University of Georgia and in the Canadian Football League. Zambiasi was born in Valdosta, Georgia, and attended high school at Mount de Sales Academy in Macon playing on three state championship football teams there. He played for the Georgia Bulldogs from 1974 to 1977. While at Georgia Zambiasi led the Bulldogs with 467 career tackles tackling 173 in 1977. He later graduated from the University of Georgia in 1980 with a Bachelor of Arts (A.B.) degree. He was drafted by the NFL's Chicago Bears in the 10th round, 271st overall, in 1978, but ended up coming to Canada after training camp. Dennis Harrison
Dennis Harrison, Jr. (born July 31, 1956 in Cleveland, Ohio) is an American former professional football player who was a defensive end for 10 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played in Super Bowl XV for the Philadelphia Eagles and was selected to the Pro Bowl after the 1982 season. In 1983, he led the Philadelphia Eagles in sacks with 13.5 on the season. Harrison starred at defensive tackle playing college football for the Vanderbilt Commodores, where he was voted All-SEC in 1978 by United Press International. As a freshman, he was named the defensive player of the game in the 1974 Peach Bowl against Texas Tech. Harrison was the first black assistant football coach at Franklin Road Academy. Arthur Barry Still (born December 5, 1955) is a former American football defensive end in the National Football League. He played college football at the University of Kentucky, where he was an All-American in 1977, and professionally for the Kansas City Chiefs (1978–1987) and the Buffalo Bills (1988–1989). College career Still played at Kentucky under head coach Fran Curci and led the defense on the 1977 Kentucky Wildcats football team that finished 10-1 and ranked #6 in the final AP poll.
