1976–77 Cypriot Third Division
The 1976–77 Cypriot Third Division was the sixth season of the Cypriot third-level football league. Akritas Chlorakas won their 1st title. Format Twelve teams participated in the 1976–77 Cypriot Third Division. All teams played against each other twice, once at their home and once away. The team with the most points at the end of the season crowned champions. The first team was promoted to 1977–78 Cypriot Second Division. The last team was relegated to regional leagues. Point system Teams received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a loss. Cypriot Third Division
The Cypriot Third Division (Greek: Πρωτάθλημα Γ΄ Κατηγορίας) is the third tier football league competition in Cyprus, run by the Cyprus Football Association. Each year, the top finishing teams of the league are promoted to the Cypriot Second Division, and the lowest finishing teams are relegated to the STOK Elite Division. History The Cypriot Third Division was held for the first time in the 1970–71 season as the third level of the Cypriot football. All the teams played against each other twice, once at their home and once away. The team with the most points at the end of the season crowned champions. 1976–77 Cypriot Cup
The 1976–77 Cypriot Cup was the 35th edition of the Cypriot Cup. A total of 42 clubs entered the competition. It began on 15 December 1976 with the preliminary round and concluded on 12 June 1977 with the final which was held at GSP Stadium. Olympiakos Nicosia won their 1st Cypriot Cup trophy after beating Alki Larnaca 2–0 in the final. Format In the 1976–77 Cypriot Cup, participated all the teams of the Cypriot First Division, the Cypriot Second Division and the Cypriot Third Division. The competition consisted of six knock-out rounds. In all rounds each tie was played as a single leg and was held at the home ground of the one of the two teams, according to the draw results. The Cyprus Football Association (CFA; el, Κυπριακή Ομοσπονδία Ποδοσφαίρου (ΚΟΠ), Kypriakí Omospondía Podosfaírou (KOP)) is the governing body of football in Cyprus and is based in Nicosia. It organizes the football championships, whose top league is the Cypriot First Division. It also organizes the Cypriot Cup, the Cypriot Super Cup and the Cypriot national football team.
