1975–76 QMJHL Season
The 1975–76 QMJHL season was the seventh season in the history of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The league inaugurates the Emile Bouchard Trophy to be awarded to the "Defenceman of the Year." Ten teams played 72 games each in the schedule. The Sherbrooke Castors finished first overall in the regular season to capture the Jean Rougeau Trophy but were defeated by the Quebec Remparts in the playoff finals. Sylvain Locas
Sylvain Locas (born February 17, 1958 in Chicoutimi, Quebec) is a former professional ice hockey Centre (ice hockey), centre. Prior to turning professional Locas played four seasons (1974–78) in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, QMJHL with the Chicoutimi Saguenéens and Sherbrooke Beavers. Locas was drafted in the sixth round by the Detroit Red Wings in the 1978 NHL Amateur Draft but never managed to play in the National Hockey League. Locas played 75 games of professional hockey in the Central Hockey League (1963–1984), CHL with the Kansas City Red Wings, 36 games in the American Hockey League, AHL with the Nova Scotia Voyageurs and Adirondack Red Wings, and 25 games in the International Hockey League (1945–2001), IHL with the Kalamazoo Wings (1974–2000), Kalamazoo Wings and Milwaukee Admirals before retiring from professional hockey in 1980. Lucien DeBlois
Joseph Lucien Jean Gonzague DeBlois (born June 21, 1957) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey right wing / centre. Career Born in Joliette, Quebec, DeBlois was selected in the 1977 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Rangers in the first round, eighth overall. He was chosen over Mike Bossy by Rangers' general manager John Ferguson, Sr. because "Bossy didn't check enough for the NHL." DeBlois was a top Canadian major junior player in the mid-seventies, where he tallied excellent numbers with the Sorel Black Hawks. He also won the Michel Brière Memorial Trophy as the league MVP during his last junior season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Daniel Poulin
Joseph Gérard Daniel Poulin (September 19, 1957 – January 2, 2015) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who played three games in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Minnesota North Stars during the 1981–82 NHL season, 1981–82 season The rest of his career, which lasted from 1977 to 1990, was spent in the minor leagues and then in the Swiss National League (ice hockey), Nationalliga A. After his playing career Poulin worked as a coach in Switzerland for several years, primarily with HC Moutier. As a youth, he played in the 1970 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Thetford Mines. He died of skin cancer in 2015. Maurice Barrette
Maurice Barrette (February 17, 1956 – September 30, 2018) was a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who played for the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL, Nova Scotia Voyageurs of the AHL and the Springfield Indians. Barrette was drafted in the middle rounds, in 1976, by both the Montreal Canadiens of the NHL and Quebec Nordiques while they were part of the WHA. He played neither a game for the Nordiques nor Canadiens, however. Normand Joseph Gilles Dupont (born February 5, 1957) is a Canadian retired ice hockey forward (ice hockey), forward. As a youth, he played in the 1970 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Montréal-Nord. Dupont started his National Hockey League career with the Montreal Canadiens in 1979–80 NHL season, 1979. He also played for the Winnipeg Jets (1972–96), Winnipeg Jets and Hartford Whalers. Robert Samuel Simpson (born November 17, 1956) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey forward who played 175 games in the National Hockey League for the Atlanta Flames, Pittsburgh Penguins, and St. Louis Blues. Early life Simpson was born in Caughnawaga, Quebec. As a youth, he played in the 1968 and 1969 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournaments with a minor ice hockey team from Caughnawaga. Career Simpson played three years of major junior hockey in the QMJHL for the Sherbrooke Castors and had a ten-year career as a professional.
