1975 Uber Cup
The 1975 Uber Cup was the seventh edition of the Uber Cup, the women's badminton team competition. The tournament took place in the 1974-75 badminton season, 14 countries competed. Indonesia won its first title in the Uber Cup, after beating the defending champion Japan in the Final Round in Jakarta. Teams 14 teams from 4 regions took part in the competition. Istora Gelora Bung Karno
Gelora Bung Karno Sports Palace ( id, Istana Olahraga Gelora Bung Karno, abbreviated as ''Istora''), the formerly name ''Istora Senayan'' is an indoor sporting arena located in Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex, Jakarta, Indonesia. The capacity of the arena after 2018 reopening is 7,166. This arena is usually used for badminton tournaments. Its maiden event was the 1961 Thomas Cup. It was also used during the 1962 Asian Games and was renovated to host the 2018 edition. Its first post-renovation event was the 2018 Indonesia Masters. During the latter Games, it hosted the badminton and later stages of basketball events. The arena originally was planned to stage the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup and becoming the only Indonesian venue in the three-country joint bid but was moved to a newly-built arena inside the complex. Imelda Wiguna (also known as ''Imelda Wigoena'', , born 12 October 1951) is a former badminton player from Indonesia who played at the world class level from the mid-1970s through the mid-1980s. Career A doubles specialist, Wiguna's two most impressive years in badminton were 1979 and 1980. In 1979 she won both doubles events, women's doubles with Verawaty Wiharjo and mixed doubles with Christian Hadinata, at the prestigious All-England Championships. is a retired badminton player of Japan who won Japanese national and international titles in the late 1970s and the 1980s.
