Vice President Of North Korea
The Vice President of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea () was a political position in North Korea established in 1972, and abolished after the death of Kim Il-sung during the reign of Kim Jong-il. In 1972 the Presidency was established, and Kim Il-sung was elected to the position by the Supreme People's Assembly, the North Korean legislature, on 28 December 1972. The Vice Presidents were also elected by the Assembly. The Vice Presidency has been left vacant since October 1997, when the Presidency was eternally reserved for Kim Il-sung. Ham Pong-sil (born 24 July 1974) is a North Korean long-distance runner who specializes in the marathon race. She is a three-time Pyongyang Marathon winner (2002, 2003, 2005). After the Paris World Championships in 2003, she was appointed to a post in charge of track and field coaching in North Korea. She trained O Song Mi, among others. Kim Tong-gyu ( ko, 김동규; 1915 - unknown) was a politician of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea who served as the Deputy Chairman of the State. Biography Kim was born in former Manchuria in northeastern China. He took part in anti-Japanese guerrilla warfare, and studied in Soviet Union. In 1961, he became a party central committee member of the Workers' Party of Korea. In 1962, he became a delegate of the Supreme People's Assembly. Kang Ryang-uk
Kang Ryang-uk (, 7 December 1903 – 9 January 1983), also spelled Kang Lyanguk, was a North Korean Presbyterian minister and Chairman of the Korean Christian Federation since 1946. Kang was the maternal uncle of North Korean leader Kim Il-sung. Kim's mother, Kang's cousin, was Kang Pan-sok, who was also a devout Presbyterian. In his early years, Kang he was a school teacher (one of his pupils was Kim Il-sung). In the 1940s he studied Theology at the Pyongyang University, and after he completed his study he became a minister. Kang became one of the close advisers of Kim Il-sung shortly after his return from the Soviet Union in October 1945. In 1946 he became the Chairman of the Christian League, later called the Korean Christian Federation. This organisation was in close contact with the Communist Party. Choe Yong-gon (official)
Choe Yong-gon (; 21 June 1900 – 19 September 1976) was the Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army from 1948 to 1950, North Korean defence minister from 1948 to 1957, and the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea of the Supreme People's Assembly of North Korea from 1957 to 1972. Early life and education Choe was born in Taechon County (태천군, ) in North Pyongan, Korea, in 1900. He was educated at two military academies. President Of North Korea
The president of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea () was the head of state of North Korea from 1972 to 1998. The position was only occupied by Kim Il-sung from 1972 until his death in 1994. Aside from being president, Kim was also the General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, Chairman of the National Defence Commission (until 1993) and Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army (until 1991).
