1973 Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship
The 1973 Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship was the 83rd staging of the Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Tipperary County Board in 1887. Roscrea were the defending champions. Roscrea won the championship after a 3–14 to 3–08 defeat of Kilruane MacDonaghs in the final at Semple Stadium. It was their fifth championship title overall and their second title in succession. Roscrea GAA
Roscrea () is a market town in County Tipperary, Ireland, which in 2016 had a population of 5,446. Roscrea is one of the oldest towns in Ireland, having developed around the 7th century monastery of Saint Crónán of Roscrea, parts of which remain preserved today. Roscrea is a designated ''Irish Heritage Town'' due to the extent of important historical buildings that are preserved in the town. Amongst the most notable buildings of interest are the 13th century Roscrea Castle and Damer House on Castle Street. Kilruane MacDonagh's GAA
Kilruane MacDonaghs GAA is a Tipperary GAA club which is located in County Tipperary, Ireland. Both hurling and Gaelic football are played in the "North-Tipperary" divisional competitions. The club is centred on the villages of Kilruane, Ardcroney and Cloughjordan. The club was founded in 1937 and is named after Thomas MacDonagh, a signatory of the 1916 Proclamation who was born and lived in Cloughjordan. The clubhouse and playing field are located in Cloughjordan. The finest day in the club's history was in 1986 when it won the Senior Hurling Club All-Ireland title, defeating Buffers Alley of Wexford GAA in the final by 1-15 to 2-10. The club incorporates many of clubs that existed in the parishes at the time. A forerunner to the MacDonaghs club was the famous De Wets formed in 1900. Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship
The Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the FBD Insurance Tipperary County Senior Hurling Championship) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Tipperary County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1887 for the top hurling teams in the county of Tipperary in Ireland. The series of games are played during the summer and autumn months with the county final currently being played at Semple Stadium in October. The prize for the winning team is the Dan Breen Cup. Initially played as a knock-out competition on a divisional basis, the championship currently features a group stage followed by a knock-out stage. The Semple Stadium is the home of hurling and Gaelic football for Tipperary GAA and for the province of Munster. Carrick Davins GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the town of Carrick-on-Suir in south County Tipperary in Ireland. It is one of three GAA clubs in the town, one of which, St Molleran's, is in County Waterford in the southern suburb of Carrickbeg across the River Suir. The club plays both hurling and Gaelic football but is predominantly a hurling club. The club enjoys a keen rivalry with Carrick Swans GAA. The club is named in honour of Maurice Davin, the first President of the GAA, who lived near the town. Newport GAA is a Tipperary GAA club which is located in County Tipperary, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. Both hurling and Gaelic football are played in the "North Tipperary" divisional competitions. The club is centred on the town of Newport, County Tipperary, Newport. Lacken Park Named after Patrick Ryan (Irish politician), Paddy Ryan Lacken, and known locally as "The Park".
