1972–73 Ekstraklasa
The 1972–73 I liga was the 47th season of the List of Polish football champions, Polish Football Championship and the 39th season of the Ekstraklasa, I liga, Polish football league system, the top Polish professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1927 Ekstraklasa, 1927. The league was operated by the Polish Football Association (PZPN). The champions were Stal Mielec, who won their 1st Polish title. Competition modus The season started on 26 July 1972 and concluded on 24 June 1973 (autumn-spring league). The season was played as a round-robin tournament. The team at the top of the standings won the league title. A total of 14 teams participated, 12 of which competed in the league during the 1971–72 Ekstraklasa, 1971–72 season, while the remaining two were promoted from the 1971–72 II liga. Ekstraklasa
Poland Ekstraklasa (), meaning "Extra Class" in Polish, named PKO Ekstraklasa since the 2019–20 season due to its sponsorship by PKO Bank Polski, is the top Polish professional league for men's association football teams. Contested by 18 clubs, operating a system of promotion and relegation with the I liga, seasons start in July, and end in May or June the following year. Teams play a total of 34 games each. Games are played on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. The winner of the Ekstraklasa qualifies for the Polish SuperCup. The league is now operated by the Ekstraklasa Spółka Akcyjna. Hutnik Kraków
Hutnik Kraków (Polish pronunciation: ) is a Polish football club based in Kraków, Poland. History The club was founded in 1950. Hutnik have played seven seasons in the Polish Ekstraklasa (Polish first division). The team's greatest success is a third place in the 1995/96 season, as a result of which they qualified for the UEFA Cup. In that tournament, Hutnik eliminated Khazri Buzovna from Azerbaijan (9:0 and 2:2), SK Sigma Olomouc from Czech Republic (0:1 and 3:1), but were themselves eliminated by AS Monaco (0:1 and 1:3).
