1972 DFB-Pokal Final
The 1972 DFB-Pokal Final decided the winner of the 1971–72 DFB-Pokal, the 29th season of Germany's knockout football cup competition. It was played on 1 July 1972 at the Niedersachsenstadion in Hanover. Schalke 04 won the match 5–0 against 1. FC Kaiserslautern, to claim their 2nd cup title. Route to the final The DFB-Pokal began with 32 teams in a two-legged knockout cup competition. There were a total of four rounds leading up to the final. Teams were drawn against each other, and following two legs of 90 minutes each, the winner on aggregate would advance. If still tied, 30 minutes of extra time was played. Klaus Fichtel
Klaus Fichtel (born 19 November 1944) is a German former professional footballer who played as a defender for Schalke 04 and Werder Bremen. He made 23 appearances for the West Germany national team. Career Fichtel was born in Castrop-Rauxel, Province of Westphalia He began his career with FC Schalke 04 and after four years with SV Werder Bremen he returned to Schalke. In total he played 552 games (14 goals) in the Bundesliga. In addition, he played 42 times in the 2. Bundesliga in one of his four years with SV Werder Bremen. Rolf Rüssmann (13 October 1950 – 2 October 2009) was a German international footballer who played as a defender for FC Schalke 04, Club Brugge and Borussia Dortmund. Norbert Nigbur
Norbert Nigbur (born 8 May 1948 in Gelsenkirchen, Germany) is a former German international football player. The goalkeeper joined Gelsenkirchen's biggest club, FC Schalke 04, from SV Gelsenkirchen 06 in 1966, playing 456 matches in the Bundesliga for Schalke and Hertha BSC in between 1966 and 1983, being the first first-team player from Schalke joining the club from Berlin after the ''Bundesligaskandal'' in 1970–71. His biggest success on club level was the DFB-Pokal trophy with hometown side Schalke 04 in 1972. Klaus Fischer
Klaus Fischer (born 27 December 1949) is a German former professional footballer and coach. He was a key player on the West Germany national team that lost the 1982 World Cup final to Italy. As a forward, he was noted for his bicycle kicks, and scored a spectacular overhead kick equalizer in extra-time of a 1982 World Cup semi-final against France. Club career Fischer was born in Kreuzstraßl, near Lindberg ( Bayerischer Wald) in the district of Regen. Helmut Kremers (born 24 March 1949) is a German former professional footballer who played as a full-back. His twin brother, Erwin Kremers, also played as a German international with the two brothers playing with each other regularly. Helmut and Erwin Kremers are the first ever twins to play in the Bundesliga.
