1971 National Soccer League Season
The 1971 National Soccer League season was the forty-eighth season under the National Soccer League (NSL) name. The season began in early May and concluded in October with the Canadian Open Cup final where Toronto Croatia defeated Challenge Trophy champions Vancouver Eintracht. The Croatians would secure a treble by successfully defending their regular-season title, and defeating Toronto First Portuguese for the NSL Championship. The NSL Cup was successfully defended by Toronto First Portuguese who defeated Sudbury City. The Canadian Open Cup was created by the NSL to determine a national champion through an annual knock-out cup competition where all professional and amateur Canadian clubs were invited to participate. Gate Receipts
Gate receipts, or simply "gate", is the sum of money taken at a sporting venue for the sale of tickets. Traditionally, gate receipts were largely or entirely taken in cash. Today, many sporting venues will operate a season ticket scheme, which will mean they allocate a proportion of season ticket monies when announcing gate receipts for a particular event. "Gate" is also sometimes used in reference to the number of people in attendance. Association football In the English Football League, gate receipts usually go to the home team, however, for cup matches, the gate is split with the other club, after deduction of expenses. Ivan Jazbinšek (9 August 1914 – 28 June 1996) was a Croatian footballer of Slovenian origin who played as a defender. Sudbury, officially the City of Greater Sudbury is the largest city in Northern Ontario by population, with a population of 166,004 at the 2021 Canadian Census. Serbian White Eagles FC
Serbian White Eagles Football Club ( sr, Фудбалски клуб Српски бели орлови / ''Fudbalski klub Srpski beli orlovi'') is a Canadian soccer team. The team is a member of the Canadian Soccer League, an unsanctioned soccer league. The team's home kit is all white commemorating the white double-headed eagle which appears on the Serbian flag while the away colours are red-blue-white commemorating the tricolour of the Serbian flag. London German Canadians is a Canadian soccer club based in London, Ontario. The club was formed in 1935 and originally competed in the London and District Soccer League. After a successful decade at the amateur level throughout the 1960s, the club joined the National Soccer League (NSL) in 1969.
