1971 Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship
The 1971 Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship was the 77th staging of the Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Kilkenny County Board. Fenians were the defending champions. On 14 November 1971, Bennettsbridge won the championship after a 3–10 to 1–07 defeat of Fenians in the final. It was their 12th championship title overall and their first in three championship seasons. It remains their last championship triumph. Coon GAA
Coon GAA was a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Coon, County Kilkenny, Ireland. The club was primarily concerned with the game of hurling. History Hurling had been played in the Coon area since the early 1940s when the arrival of a new schoolteacher resulted in a minor team being established. A new curate arrived in the parish in 1947 and, under his influence, Coon GAA Club was established in 1948. After losing Kilkenny JHC finals to Mooncoin in 1961 and Thomastown in 1962, Coon finally made the breakthrough by capturing the title in 1967. This victory earned promotion to the Kilkenny SHC. Coon lined out in the top flight until regrading to the newly created Kilkenny IHC in 1973. The decision was a successful one as they claimed the title that year. James Stephens is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Kilkenny, Ireland. The club was founded in 1887 and has enjoyed equal success in both hurling and Gaelic football. History James Stephens was founded in 1887 as a hurling club. The club is named after James Stephens, founding member of the Irish Republican Brotherhood and took part in its first championship in 1888. UPMC Nowlan Park (; ) is the principal Gaelic Athletic Association stadium in Kilkenny, Ireland. Named after James Nowlan (the longest serving President of the GAA), the stadium hosts major hurling matches and is home to the Kilkenny hurling team. It opened in 1927 replacing St. James Park. Erin's Own GAA (Kilkenny)
Erin's Own Gaelic Athletic Association was founded in 1885 and since then has been the main sporting organization in the Castlecomer area in County Kilkenny, Ireland. Erin's Own fielded teams in 11 different grades of hurling and in 7 grades of gaelic football in 2006, and is currently undertaking major development at its new ground, Canon Kearns Park. With a membership of about 20 adults and about 100 youths the club is in the enviable position of having two properties, the first, The Prince Grounds, in the town, and the second, Canon Kearns Park, on the outskirts of the town, towards Kilkenny. Clara GAA ( ga, CLG Chláraigh) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club situated in the small parish of Clara in County Kilkenny, Ireland. Focused mainly on hurling and camogie, the dominant sports in the county, Clara's greatest achievements to date are victories in the Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship in 1986 2013, and in 2015 they secured their third title. Piltown GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Piltown, County Kilkenny, Ireland. A Piltown GAA club was founded in 1887. Several versions existed until the modern club founded in 1953 following the advent of Parish Rule in Kilkenny.
