KKDA (AM)
KKDA (730 AM) is an American radio station in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The station is licensed to serve the community of Grand Prairie, Texas, and is owned by Scott Kim and Kimberly Roberts, through licensee SKR Partners LLC. On January 1, 2013, SKR Partners began operating the station under a local marketing agreement while the sale awaits FCC approval. Previously, KKDA was operated for many years by Service Broadcasting as a long-time urban oldies format. In addition, it carried UTA Mavericks men's basketball games beginning with the 2012–13 season. 730 AM is a Canadian and Mexican clear-channel frequency. Licensed to Mercer Island, Washington, United States, the station is currently owned by Mercer Island School District, with studios at Mercer Island High School. This station is one of three high school radio stations in the Seattle Metro area, the other two being KNHC, and KASB. Karl Haas
Karl Haas (December 6, 1913February 6, 2005) was a German-American classical music radio host, known for his sonorous speaking voice, humanistic approach to music appreciation, and popularization of classical music. He was the host of the classical music radio program ''Adventures in Good Music'', which was syndicated to commercial and public radio stations around the world. He also published the book ''Inside Music''. He was a respected musicologist, as well as an accomplished pianist and conductor. In 1996, he received an honorary degree in Doctor of Letters from Oglethorpe University. Early life and family Haas was born in Speyer, Palatinate, Germany in 1913. He studied at the Mannheim Conservatory and earned a doctorate in music literature from Heidelberg University. He studied piano with Artur Schnabel. Adventures In Good Music
''Adventures in Good Music'', hosted by Karl Haas, was radio's most widely listened-to classical music program, and aired nationally in the U.S. from 1970 to 2007. The program was also syndicated to commercial and public radio stations around the world. German-American musicologist Karl Haas started ''Adventures in Good Music'' in 1959 on radio station WJR in Detroit, Michigan. It was awarded the Peabody Award for excellence in broadcasting in 1962. Syndicated broadcasts began in 1970 on WCLV in Cleveland, Ohio, where the production of the program remained for the rest of its duration. Each daily episode of the show had a different topic chosen by Haas, and he aired his personal choice of classical music selections relating to it, along with his pleasant blend of explanation, analysis, and background. National Educational Radio Network
The National Educational Radio Network (NERN) was a means of distributing radio programs in the United States between 1961 and 1970. With funding from the Ford Foundation, the network began broadcasting on six radio stations on April 3, 1961. A forerunner was formed in 1925 as the Association of College and University Broadcasting Stations, then renamed the National Association of Educational Broadcasters in 1934. In 1951 a grant from the W. K. Kellogg Foundation enabled the network to become the "(NAEB) Tape Network", based at the University of Illinois. NAEB Tape Network became part of the National Educational Radio Network in 1963. As a result of the Public Broadcasting Act of 1967 NERN became part of National Public Radio in 1970. Clinton is a city in and the county seat of Clinton County, Iowa, United States. The population was 24,469 as of 2020. Clinton, along with DeWitt (also located in Clinton County), was named in honor of the sixth governor of New York, DeWitt Clinton. ''You and Yours'' is a British radio consumer affairs programme, broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and produced by BBC News. History ''You and Yours'' began broadcasting in October 1970, when its first presenter was Joan York. In the 1980s it briefly ran seven days a week. In April 1998 it was increased from a 25-minute programme to 55 minutes. However, in 2014 the running time was reduced to approximately 40 minutes to make space for Radio 4's World War I drama ''Home Front'' which went out between 12.04 and 12.15.
