There would be three rounds of play: *First Round: Israel, New Zealand and Rhodesia received byes and advanced to the Second Round directly. The remaining 3 teams, Australia, Japan and South Korea, played against each other twice in South Korea. The group winner would advance to the Second Round. *Second Round: The 4 teams were divided into 2 groups of 2 teams each. The teams played against each other twice. Tom McColl
Thomas Gunn McColl (born 19 September 1945) is a former association football player who played as a forward. Born in Scotland, he represented Australia national team at international level. Club career Born in Glasgow, Scotland, McColl played his youth football for Dennistoun Juniors in Scotland. Between 1963 and 1964 he played 11 matches for Colchester United in England. He was sold to Chelsea for £7,500 in September 1964, though he made no senior appearances. He later moved to Australia where he played for Adelaide Juventus and Melbourne Juventus. In late 1970 terms were agreed to the transfer of McColl from Melbourne Juventus to Auburn in Sydney for $6,000. In January 1971 when he had not arrived in Sydney, Auburn officials were told he was on his way to Sydney. It was later found that he was in Rhodesia where he had requested a transfer to Chibuku FC. Ray Baartz
Raymond Henry "Ray" Baartz (born 6 March 1947) is an Australian former soccer player. He represented Australia 48 times, scoring 18 goals, making him the 8th highest goal scorer of all time. Baartz was born in Newcastle, New South Wales and spent his early years playing for Adamstown. At 17 he joined Manchester United and after 6 months signed on a two-year contract. In 1966 he returned to Australia and transferred to Sydney Hakoah for a then Australian record of £5600. He played 236 club matches scoring 211 goals. Baartz was selected in the Australian squad to play in the World Cup finals in 1974 but his career was prematurely ended after he was felled by a blow from Uruguay's Luis Garisto in a friendly international fixture at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Govindasamy Suppiah
Govindasamy Suppiah (born 17 June 1929 – 6 December 2012) was a Singaporean football referee. Suppiah officiated at the 1974 FIFA World Cup where he took charge of one match, Poland's 7–0 win against Haiti and went on to officiate as a linesman for two further matches. Chinese Taipei Football Association (CTFA) is the governing body for football in the Republic of China (commonly known as Taiwan). Yasuyuki Kuwahara
was a Japanese football player. He played for Japan national team. Club career Kuwahara was born in Hiroshima on December 22, 1942. After graduating from Chuo University, he joined his local club Toyo Industries in 1965. The club won league champions 5 times (1965, 1966, 1967, 1968 and 1970). was a Japanese football player and manager. He played for Japan national team. Club career Miyamoto was born in Hiroshima on December 26, 1940. After graduating from high school, he joined Yawata Steel (later ''Nippon Steel'') in 1959. The club won 1964 Emperor's Cup. In 1965, Yawata Steel joined new league Japan Soccer League. In 1967, he was selected Japanese Footballer of the Year awards. He retired in 1976. He played 138 games and scored 68 goals in the league.
