1970 Cup Of The Alps
1970 Coppa delle Alpi shows the results of the 1970 tournament that was held in Switzerland in the preseason 1970/71. The Coppa delle Alpi (translated as ''Cup of the Alps'') was a football tournament, jointly organized by the Italian Football Federation and the Swiss Football Association as a pre-season event. All of the games in the 1970 competition were played in Switzerland. There were four participants from Italy, these being Bari, Fiorentina, Lazio and Sampdoria, and there were four from Switzerland: Zürich, Lugano, Young Boys and FC Basel. Each Italian team played against each of the Swiss teams. The Italians and the Swiss each formed their own league table. The winners of each group then matched in the final. Letzigrund
is a stadium in Zürich, Switzerland, and the home of the athletics club LC Zürich, and the football clubs FC Zürich and Grasshopper Club Zürich. LC Zürich is a spin-off of FC Zürich whose members constructed the stadium in 1925. Grasshopper-Club has been using it as their home stadium since 2007. The annual track and field meet Weltklasse Zürich—part of the Diamond League—takes place at the Letzigrund since 1928, as well as frequent open-air concerts. Friedrich "Fritz" Künzli (8 January 1946 – 22 December 2019) was a Swiss football player. From 1961 to 1979 he played in 313 matches in the Nationalliga A scoring a record 201 goals. In 1978, he played part of one season in the North American Soccer League. He was a leading goal scorer four times in the league and is one of only three players to lead the league in goals for two different clubs. He achieved his greatest success teaming with Köbi Kuhn at FC Zürich, winning two league championships, and four Swiss Cups. He earned 44 caps and scored 15 goals for Switzerland between 17 October 1965 and 16 November 1977. His international career includes two matches in the 1966 World Cup. After retiring from football, he operated a restaurant in Zürich with his wife, former actress and model, Monika Kaelin. The Wankdorf Stadium (german: Wankdorfstadion, ) was a football stadium in the Wankdorf quarter of Bern, Switzerland, and the former home of Swiss club BSC Young Boys. Mario Maraschi (28 August 1939 – 3 December 2020) was an Italian professional footballer and manager who played as a striker. In 2018, he was inducted into ACF Fiorentina Hall of Fame.
