The 1970 Copa Ganadores de Copa was the first and only edition of CONMEBOL's club tournament. Teams that failed to qualify for the Copa Libertadores played in this tournament. Eight teams from eight South American football confederations played in this tournament. Colombia and Brazil sent no representatives. Copa Ganadores De Copa
The Copa Ganadores de Copa, also known as Recopa Sudamericana de Clubes, was a South American football tournament organized by CONMEBOL. Its first edition was held in 1970 and was won by Bolivian club Mariscal Santa Cruz. The second edition was organized in 1971, however, Group One matches have never been played and the tournament reduced to a friendly competition at the end and the winner of Group Two was crowned the champion. The competition was not held after this year. The tournament was contested by football clubs which were the most recent winners of South American domestic cup competitions or the highest team club that did not qualify for the Copa Libertadores. The actual qualifying criteria varied across countries. It should not be confused with Recopa Sudamericana, the competition played between the champion of Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana. Mariscal Santa Cruz
Club Mariscal Santa Cruz, was a Bolivian football club based in the city of La Paz, Bolivia, named in honour of Andrés de Santa Cruz, former President of Peru and Bolivia. It was founded in 1923 as ''Northern Football Club'', in 1966 the club changed its name, after it had been sold to the Bolivian Armed Forces due to financial difficulties. Mariscal Santa Cruz played in the ''Liga Paceña de Fútbol'' the semi-amateur football league of the Bolivian Capital from its formation in 1950 until 1976 when the club was dissolved. Mariscal Santa Cruz first and only appearance in an international Official CONMEBOL tournament was the Copa Ganadores de Copa 1970, played in La Paz, Bolivia. Copa Libertadores
The CONMEBOL Libertadores, also known as the Copa Libertadores de América ( pt, Copa Libertadores da América), is an annual international club football competition organized by CONMEBOL since 1960. It is the highest level of competition in South American club football. The tournament is named after the ''Libertadores'' (Spanish and Portuguese for ''liberators''), the leaders of the Latin American wars of independence, so a literal translation of its former name into English is "''America's Liberators Cup''". The competition has had several formats over its lifetime. Initially, only the champions of the South American leagues participated. In 1966, the runners-up of the South American leagues began to join. In 1998, Mexican teams were invited to compete and contested regularly from 2000 until 2016. Rampla Juniors Fútbol Club, commonly known as Rampla Juniors, is a Uruguayan football club based in Montevideo. The team was actively playing the 2021 season by January 2021.
