Joe Yukica
Joseph M. Yukica (May 27, 1931 – January 22, 2022) was an American college football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at the University of New Hampshire (1966–1967), Boston College (1968–1977), and Dartmouth College (1978–1986), compiling a career college football record of 111–93–4. Yukica played at Pennsylvania State University from 1949 to 1952. Early life Yukica was the son of a Croatian immigrant crane operator and a farmer's daughter. He was born in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania and grew up in Midland, Pennsylvania. He didn't play football until his senior year at Midland High School, but played well enough to represent Beaver County in a high school all-star game, where he attracted the attention of a Penn State assistant. Falcon Stadium is an outdoor football stadium in the western United States, on the campus of the U.S. Air Force Academy near Colorado Springs, Colorado. It is the home field of the Air Force Falcons of the Mountain West Conference, and also holds the academy's graduation ceremonies each spring. The Boston College–Holy Cross football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Boston College Eagles and Holy Cross Crusaders. Though the rivalry has been largely dormant since the 1980s, it was once contested annually as a season-ending game that "determined the best team in New England", as one player recalled. As of 2018, even after not playing each other for more than 30 years, each school was still the other's all-time most-played football opponent. The 1970 Holy Cross Crusaders football team was an American football team that represented the College of the Holy Cross as an independent during the 1970 NCAA University Division football season. Bill Whitton returned for a second year as head coach. The team compiled a record of 0–10–1. Reeling financially from the cancellation of all 1969 home games, Holy Cross opted to schedule an 11-game season for the first time in its history, adding a visit to West Point. The no-win, 10-loss season was the worst result in Holy Cross history to that point. All home games were played at Fitton Field on the Holy Cross campus in Worcester, Massachusetts. The Boston College–UMass football rivalry is a college football rivalry between the Eagles of Boston College and Minutemen of the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The rivalry was most active during the 1960s and 1970s, when the teams met on an annual basis. Because of changes to the NCAA's division structure, the teams did not meet for 30 years, but UMass' promotion to the top-tier NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision enabled them to resume the rivalry, with a three-game series starting in 2014. Warren McGuirk Alumni Stadium is a 17,000-seat multi-purpose stadium in Hadley, Massachusetts, on the campus of the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
