1969 Vuelta A España
The 24th Edition ''Vuelta a España'' (Tour of Spain), a long-distance bicycle stage race and one of the three grand tours, was held from 23 April to 11 May 1969. It consisted of 18 stages covering a total of , and was won by Roger Pingeon of the Peugeot cycling team. Raymond Steegmans won the points competition and Luis Ocaña, who demonstrated his time trialling skills by winning the prologue and two time trials in the race, won the mountains classification. Roger Pingeon
Roger Pingeon (; 28 August 1940 – 19 March 2017) was a professional road bicycle racer from France. Biography Growing up near the Jura Mountains, he was a cross-country skier as a teenager before taking up bicycle racing. He spent two years in Algeria on military service before starting his professional cycling career relatively late. He raced as a professional from 1964 to 1974. In 1967, Pingeon won the Tour de France. Sant Feliu De Guíxols
Sant Feliu de Guíxols () is a municipality in the ''comarca'' of the Baix Empordà in Catalonia, Spain. It is situated on the Costa Brava and is an important port and tourist centre. The district abuts to the north, the upmarket s'Agaró resort built round the Sant Pol Beach. In addition to tourism and the port the cork industry is a traditionally local industry. The town contains a large monastery which now houses the town museum and is a protected historico-artistic monument. The C-253 road runs north near the coast from Sant Feliu de Guíxols to Platja d'Aro and Palamós, while the C-65 road runs inland from the town. The GI-682 provides a dramatic cliff top drive to Tossa de Mar to the south. Manuel Martín Piñera
Manuel Martín Piñera (born 3 June 1931) is a Spanish former professional cyclist. He most notably won 5 stages of the Vuelta a España, among many other professional wins. Biography Manuel Martín was born in Cabezón de la Sal, Cantabri on June 3, 1931. After retiring in 1970, a friend offered him a job at a company where he stayed until retirement. Career Martín as professional from 1955 to 1969, where he notably won five stages of the Vuelta a España. Height 1.72 and weight in form 68-70 kg. He was considered a rouleur with great physical strength. He started his career late, at the age of 24 in the beginners category. After two successful seasons, he upgraded to an Independent, and two years later, in 1958, he signed with . Reus () is the capital of Baix Camp, in the province of Tarragona, in Catalonia, Spain. Benicàssim (; es, Benicasim ; ar, بنو قاسم, translit=banū qāsim, or ar, بني قاسم, translit=banī qāsim, label=none, according to numismatic findings) is a municipality and beach resort located in the province of Castelló (province), Castelló, on the Costa del Azahar in Spain. Ramón Sáez Marzo (8 March 1940 – 18 June 2013) was a Spanish road cyclist who was active between 1962 and 1973. Nules
Nules is a town in eastern Spain, in the province of Castellón (Valencian Community). Located 18 km to the south of the province's capital, at 13 m over sea level, it has 13,750 inhabitants (2010 data), living in Nules Town, Nules Beach and Mascarell. Edward Sels (born 27 August 1941 at Vorselaar, Belgium) is a former Belgian professional road bicycle racer. He was professional from 1963 to 1972, winning 35 races. Almansa
Almansa () is a Spanish town and municipality in the province of Albacete, part of the autonomous community of Castile-La Mancha. The name "Almansa" stems from the Arabic (al-manṣaf), "half way of the road". The municipality borders with Alicante, Valencia and Murcia. Almansa is famous for its '' Moros y cristianos'' festival from celebrated from 1 to 6 May. Almansa is built at the foot of a white limestone crag, which is surmounted by a Moorish castle, and rises abruptly in the midst of a fertile and irrigated plain.
