1969 Railway Cup Hurling Championship
The 1969 Railway Cup Hurling Championship was the 43rd series of the hurling Railway Cup. Four matches were played between 23 February and 6 April 1969. It was contested by Connacht GAA, Connacht, Leinster GAA, Leinster, Munster GAA, Munster and Ulster GAA, Ulster. Munster were the winners for the second year in-a-row and for the 31st occasion overall. Format ''Preliminary round:'' (1 match) This was a single match between Connacht GAA, Connacht and Ulster GAA, Ulster, generally regarded as the two 'weakest' teams in the championship. One team was eliminated at this stage while the winning team advanced to the semi-final. Connacht GAA (Irish: Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Chonnacht) or formally the Connacht Provincial Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association is the governing body for Gaelic games that are played in the province of Connacht, Ireland. It performs a supervisory and appeal role for the five County Boards within the province (listed below). Croke Park
Croke Park ( ga, Páirc an Chrócaigh, ) is a Gaelic games stadium in Dublin, Ireland. Named after Archbishop Thomas Croke, it is referred to as Croker by GAA fans and locals. It serves as both the principal national stadium of Ireland and headquarters of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). Since 1891 the site has been used by the GAA to host Gaelic sports, including the annual All-Ireland in Gaelic football and hurling. A major expansion and redevelopment of the stadium ran from 1991 to 2005, raising capacity to its current 82,300 spectators. This makes Croke Park the third-largest stadium in Europe, and the largest not usually used for association football in Europe. Railway Cup Hurling Championship

Bernie O'Connor (Galway Hurler)
Benjamin O’Connor (born 1949), known as Bernie O'Connor, is an Irish former hurler and manager. As a player he lined out with Meelin, before later serving as a coach and manager, most notably with Newtownshandrum. Playing career O'Connor first played for his club, Meelin, in the Duhallow division in 1962, winning an U14 hurling championship. He followed this U16 and minor hurling medals in 1964 and 1966 respectively. He also played Gaelic football at juvenile level at the time, before later winning league and championship medals in that code with Rockchapel and Knockskevane. In 1963, O'Connor was drafted onto the Duhallow divisional senior team and made his debut in the Cork SHC as a 14-year-old a year later. After several years of near misses for Meelin, O'Connor won the first of a record-equalling four successive Duhallow JHC titles with his club in 1970.
