1969 European Ladies' Team Championship
The 1969 European Ladies' Team Championship took place 3–6 July at Halmstad Golf Club in Tylösand, Sweden. It was the sixth women's golf amateur European Ladies' Team Championship. Venue The tournament was played at the North course at Halmstad Golf Club in Tylösand, Halmstad Municipality, 9 kilometers west of Halmstad city center in Halland County, Sweden. The club was founded in 1930. Its first 18-hole course was constructed by Rafael Sundblom and approved in 1938. A new course was inaugurated in 1967, when nine new holes were constructed, which together with the last nine holes of the old course formed the new North Course. Format All participating teams played one qualification round of stroke-play with up to five players, counted the four best scores for each team. 1967 European Ladies' Team Championship
The 1967 European Ladies' Team Championship took place 4–9 July at Penina Golf and Resort in Portimão, Algarve, Portugal. It was the fifth women's golf amateur European Ladies' Team Championship. Venue The championship course, designed by Sir Henry Cotton and situated on the south coast of Portugal, 180 kilometres south of the capital of the country, Lisbon, was set up with par 75. It was warm and sunny during the tournament. Format All participating teams played two qualification rounds of stroke play, counting the three best scores out of up to four players for each team. The four best teams formed flight A. The next four teams formed flight B and the last four teams formed flight C. The winner in each flight was determined by a round-robin system. All teams in the flight met each other and the team with most points for team matches in flight A won the tournament, using the scale, win=2 points, halved=1 point, lose=0 points. Audrey Briggs ( Brown, born 31 January 1945) is a Welsh amateur golfer. She won the Welsh Ladies' Amateur Championship four times in five years from 1970 to 1974. She represented Great Britain & Ireland in the Vagliano Trophy in 1971 and 1973. Golf career Briggs reached the final of the Welsh Girls’ Championship in 1963, losing 8&7 to Ann Hughes in the 18-hole final. She won the Welsh Ladies' Amateur Championship four times in five years from 1970 to 1974. In 1970 she beat Jill Morris at the 19th hole. She had further wins in 1971, 1973 and 1974. From 1978 to 1981 she lost four finals in succession, losing in the final to Pamela Light, Vicki Rawlings and twice to Mandy Rawlings. Liv Wollin (née Forsell) (born 17 April 1945) is a Swedish professional golfer, who is regarded as having been one of the best Swedish female amateur players ever. Early life Wollin grew up in Lidingö outside Stockholm, Sweden, as the only girl among five siblings. Her parents were Jacob Forsell and Mette, nee Grut, and they were not golfers. She started out golf in 1958 as a caddie at Lidingö Golf Club close to their house. With few girls playing the game in those days, she usually played with boys. Ann Leslie Irvin (born 11 April 1943) is an English amateur golfer. She won the British Ladies Amateur in 1973 and the English Women's Amateur Championship in 1967 and 1974. She was in four Curtis Cup teams, in 1962, 1968, 1970 and 1976. Amateur career Irvin reached the final of the Girls Amateur Championship in 1960 and was a losing semi-finalist in 1961. In those two years she also played in the England–Scotland girls match. Late in 1961 she made her first senior team appearance, playing against the Continent of Europe in Italy in the Vagliano Trophy. Early in 1962 she was runner-up, playing with Jill Thornhill, in the Kayser Bondor Foursomes. She was also runner-up in the Astor Prince's Trophy in July.
