1969 Cup Of The Alps
1969 Coppa delle Alpi shows the results of the 1969 tournament that was held in Switzerland in the preseason 1969/70. The Coppa delle Alpi (translated as ''Cup of the Alps'') was a football tournament, first organized by the Italian national league to start the season 1960/61 and then they aided by the Swiss League after 1962. This competition ran from 1960 until 1987. Most of the games in the 1969 competition were played in Switzerland, three were played in Hof, one in Rüsselsheim. The teams taking part were Lausanne Sports, Zürich, Basel and Biel-Bienne. From Belgium K.S.V. Waregem were qualified and from Italy were Bologna, Hellas Verona, Sampdoria and Napoli. Qualified from Germany were Alemannia Aachen, Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayern Hof. Two teams from each country were divided into each of the two groups. Mario Frustalupi (12 September 1942 – 14 April 1990) was an Italian footballer, who played as a midfielder. Playing career Born in Orvieto (Umbria), Frustalupi debuted in Italian Serie A in 1963 with Sampdoria, for which he played in 8 seasons. In 1970, he moved to FC Internazionale, then in need of a replace for Luis Suárez, but Frustalupi disappointed the premises. Karl Odermatt (born 17 December 1942 in Lucerne) is a Swiss former footballer who played for FC Basel and BSC Young Boys throughout the 1960s and 1970s. He played as a midfielder or striker and is generally regarded as one of the best players ever to have worn the FC Basel shirt. Hans-Jürgen Sundermann (25 January 1940 – 4 October 2022) was a German football manager and player who played as a midfielder. Playing career Sundermann played his youth football with local club 1. FC Mülheim. In 1958 he signed for Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, where he played for four years. He then moved on to Viktoria Köln. After two years with them he signed for Bundesliga side Hertha BSC and appeared in 29 league matches for them. Due to financial irregularities the club was relegated after that season. 1n 1965/66 Hertha won the Regionalliga Berlin but failed in the promotion play-off to the Bundesliga. Helmut Benthaus (born 5 June 1935) is a German former association football, football player and coach. He spent his best playing days at Westfalia Herne and his best coaching days at FC Basel. Helmut Hauser (born 7 March 1941) is a German former footballer. He played as forward. Hauser started his youth football with local club SV Schopfheim. He also played a few years in their senior team. In 1964 he transferred to Basel and played there for eight years, the first under trainer Georges Sobotka and seven under trainer Helmut Benthaus. He won the Swiss Championship four times and was Swiss Cup winner once. Pierre-Albert 'Gabet' Chapuisat (born 5 April 1948) is a Swiss retired football defender and manager. Playing career During his extensive professional career, Lausanne-born Chapuisat played mainly for hometown's FC Lausanne-Sport, having three different spells with the club.
