Brookland Stadium
Brookland Stadium, or Killion Field, was the athletic field for Catholic University in Brookland, Washington, D.C. from 1924 to 1985. It was named after alumni Captain Edward L Killion. It was located on the main campus of The Catholic University of America, next to Brookland Gymnasium (today's Edward M. Crough Center for Architectural Studies), in the area now occupied by the Columbus School of Law and the Law School Lawn. Primarily used for college football, it was also a baseball and soccer stadium. It hosted the second leg of the 1970 NASL Final between the Rochester Lancers and the Washington Darts. Aquinas Memorial Stadium
Holleder Memorial Stadium was a 20,000 seat football stadium in Rochester, New York. Located on Ridgeway Avenue, at the south east corner of Mount Read Blvd., it was built in 1949 to serve as the home of Aquinas Institute football. Originally named Aquinas Memorial Stadium, it was renamed in 1974, in memory of former Aquinas and Army quarterback Don Holleder, who was killed in October, 1967, in the Battle of Ong Thanh. The first ever win for the Buffalo Bills of the American Football League was held at the stadium; on August 13, 1960, the Bills won an exhibition game against the Denver Broncos. The Bills continued to host occasional exhibition games at the stadium through the 1960s. Rochester Lancers (1967–1980)
Rochester Lancers was an American soccer team that competed in the American Soccer League (ASL) from 1967 until 1969, and in the North American Soccer League (NASL) from 1970 to 1980. The team was based in Rochester, New York, and played home games at Holleder Memorial Stadium. The Lancers won the 1970 NASL Championship and was the only NASL team to compete in the CONCACAF Champions' Cup. The Lancers could not sustain their early success, posting two winning records and a few playoff appearances before folding after the 1980 season. Carlos Metidieri
Jose Carlos Metidieri (born December 18, 1942, in Votorantim (SP), Brazil) is a retired Brazilian-born American soccer forward. He played professionally in Canada with Toronto Italia. In an exhibition game between Torino of Italy and a German side at Varsity Stadium, Metidieri in the beginning of the second half, donned a Torino uniform and substituted a Torino player to the surprise of all fans. In the United States, playing for the Rochester Lancers, he was the leading scorer of the North American Soccer League in 1970 and 1971 and named the league's Most Valuable Player - the only player in the league's history to accomplish both awards in consecutive seasons. Frank Odoi (born 23 February 1943) is a Ghanaian former professional footballer who played as a midfielder in Ghana and the United States. He was a member of Ghana's 1964 Olympic football team. Club career In 1962, Odoi finished his degree in mechanical engineering at Kaneshie Technical College. That year, he began his football career with second division Standfast FC. In 1963, he moved to Great Olympics in the Ghana Premier League. In 1968, he left Ghana to move to the United States where he signed with the Washington Whips of the North American Soccer League. In 1969, he moved to the second division Syracuse Scorpions of the American Soccer League before returning to the NASL in 1970, this time with the Rochester Lancers. Juan Paletta is a retired Argentinian football (soccer) forward who played in the North American Soccer League and American Soccer League who shared the ASL scoring title in 1970. In 1967, Paletta signed with the Ukrainian Nationals of the American Soccer League. In 1968, he moved to the Washington Whips of the North American Soccer League. Tibor Vigh
Tibor Vigh is a Hungarian-born Canadian former soccer player who earned 4 caps for the Canadian national side in 1968, scoring 2 goals. Career Vigh played at the youth level with Ferencvárosi, but was forced to flee Hungary in 1956 as result of the failure of the Hungarian Revolution. He initially landed in Belgium before permanently settling in Windsor, Canada along with the rest of his family. Once settled in Canada he immediately played at the local regional league the Essex County Soccer League with Windsor Hungaria in 1957. In 1960, he signed with league rivals Windsor Teutonia.
