1968–69 Iraq Central FA Premier League
The 1968–69 Iraq Central FA Premier League was the 21st season of the Iraq Central FA League (the top division of football in Baghdad and its neighbouring cities from 1948 to 1973). Eleven teams competed in the tournament, which was at first played in a round-robin format. After three rounds of the league had taken place, the Iraq Central Football Association (IFA) decided to annul the results of the matches that had been played due to a lack of sufficient funds to complete the rest of the matches. The tournament was restarted under a double-elimination format where teams were eliminated after two defeats, and matches that ended in a draw would be decided by a drawing of lots. Aliyat Al-Shorta beat Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya in the final to win their second consecutive league title. Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya player Hisham Atta was the league's top scorer with four goals. Iraq Central FA League
The Iraq Central FA League, previously named the Iraq FA Baghdad League ( ar, دوري الاتحاد العراقي لمنطقة بغداد) and also known as the League of the Institutes ( ar, دوري المؤسسات, ''Dawri Al-Muassasat'') due to containing a number of teams representing different Iraqi institutes, was the top-level division of football in Baghdad and its neighbouring cities between 1948 and 1973. It was controlled by the Iraq Central Football Association and was played under a variety of different formats including a double-elimination format, a round-robin format and a double round-robin format. It was one of four regional league championships played in Iraq at the time, with the others being in Basra, Kirkuk and Mosul. Al-Etisalat Sports Club (''The Communications'', ar, الاتصالات), is an Iraqi football team based in Baghdad was called Al-Bareed before season 2009/10. They play in the Iraqi Premier League. The Al-Bareed team was founded in 1963, and was merged with Al-Minaa for the 1974–75 season to form Al-Muwasalat. Mousa Abdullah
Mousa ( non, Mosey "moss island") is a small island in Shetland, Scotland, uninhabited since the nineteenth century. The island is known for the Broch of Mousa, an Iron Age round tower, and is designated as a Special Protection Area for storm-petrel breeding colonies. Geography Mousa lies a mile off the east coast of Mainland Shetland in the parish of Dunrossness about south of Lerwick. Almost divided in two by inlets, East and West Hams, the island is long and almost in maximum width. Geologically beds of hard sandstone alternate with muddy limestones that weather to produce fertile soil. A quarry provided flagstones for Lerwick. Douglas Aziz Shamasha Eshaya (; born 1 January 1942) is an Iraqi former football player and caretaker coach. He represented the Iraq national team, and is ethnically Assyrian. Club career He was a pillar for club and country during the late 1960s and through the 1970s. Al-Kuliya Al-Askariya
Al-Kuliya Al-Askariya ( ar, فريق الكلية العسكرية, lit=''Military College''), known up until 1958 as Al-Kuliya Al-Askariya Al-Malakiya, was an Iraqi football team founded in 1937 in Baghdad. They were the runners-up of Iraq's first ever national cup when they lost the final of the 1948–49 Iraq FA Cup to Sharikat Naft Al-Basra. They were also the first ever winners of the Iraq Central FA League, a regional league for teams from Baghdad and its neighbouring cities, when they earned the title in 1948–49. Al-Naqil Sports Club ( ar, نادي النقل الرياضي, meaning ''Transport Sports Club''), was an Iraqi sports club based in Baghdad that was founded in 1937 under the name Al-Sikak Al-Hadeed ( ar, السكك الحديد, meaning ''Railways''). They were renamed Al-Naqil in 1974, competing in the first season of the Iraqi Premier League (the top tier of Iraqi club football) and finishing as runners-up. The club was dissolved in 1975 as they had no administration or financial backing. Their football players left to join newly-promoted club Al-Zawraa, who went on to become one of Iraqi football's most successful clubs. Aliyat Al-Shorta Sport Club ( ar, نادي آليات الشرطة الرياضي, lit=''Police Machinery Sport Club'') is an Iraqi sports club based in Baghdad. Its football team plays in the Iraq Division Two. History The Aliyat Al-Shorta team was founded in 1961 by the Police Games Committee. Quwat Salahaddin ( ar, قوات صلاح الدين, lit=''Salahaddin Forces'') was an Iraqi football team based in Habbaniyah which competed in the Iraq Central FA League from the 1962–63 season until the 1972–73 season. They also competed in Iraq's first national football league in the 1973–74 season. History Quwat Salahaddin were founded as Al-Firqa Al-Thalitha ( ar, الفرقة الثالثة, lit=''Third Division'') and were originally based in Baqubah before moving to Habbaniyah.
