Ekstraklasa
Poland Ekstraklasa (), meaning "Extra Class" in Polish, named PKO Ekstraklasa since the 2019–20 season due to its sponsorship by PKO Bank Polski, is the top Polish professional league for men's association football teams. Contested by 18 clubs, operating a system of promotion and relegation with the I liga, seasons start in July, and end in May or June the following year. Teams play a total of 34 games each. Games are played on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. The winner of the Ekstraklasa qualifies for the Polish SuperCup. The league is now operated by the Ekstraklasa Spółka Akcyjna. Stal Rzeszów is a Polish football club based in Rzeszów, Poland, as part of the multi-sports club History The history of Stal Rzeszow dates back to November 1944, when a group of sports enthusiasts, working at ''WSK PZL Rzeszow'' (''Transport Equipment Enterprise'') decided to form a ''Sports Circle''. With support of the ''Youth Organization of the Association of Workers University'' (''Organizacja Mlodziezy Towarzystwa Uniwersytetu Robotniczego, OM TUR''), the new club was managed by Bronislaw Szczoczarz. Janusz Żmijewski
Janusz Henryk Żmijewski (born 4 March 1943) is a Polish former professional footballer who played as a forward. Playing career Born in Radzymin in the Masovian Voivodeship, he spent most of his career with Legia Warsaw. After his tenure with Legia he had stints with Ruch Chorzów, Avia Świdnik, A.A.C. Eagles, Polonia Warsaw, MKP Pogoń Siedlce, and KS Piaseczno. When he finished off his career in Poland he went overseas to Canada to sign with the Toronto Falcons of the National Soccer League. During his tenure with Toronto he won the NSL Championship in 1980. He concluded his career with local amateur clubs like Toronto Polonia, Hamilton Legion, and Mississauga Polonia. Robert Gadocha (born 10 January 1946 in Kraków) is a retired Polish soccer player, most notable for playing for Legia Warsaw. Gadocha, who started his career in Garbarnia Kraków. later also played for FC Nantes, and briefly in the United States for Chicago Sting, his last professional team. He was a member of the Poland national team that won the gold medal at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, as well as a member of the team that finished third in the 1974 FIFA World Cup in West Germany. He has a total of 16 goals in 62 games with the Poland national team. Kazimierz Deyna (; 23 October 1947 – 1 September 1989) was a Polish professional association football, footballer who played as an attacking midfielder in the playmaker role and was one of the most highly regarded players of his generation, due to his excellent vision. Early life Deyna was born in Starogard Gdański to Franciszek (1911–1976) – a dairy worker, and Jadwiga (1917–1981) – a housewife. He had six sisters and two brothers – Henryk and Franciszek, who also were footballers; Henryk played for Włókniarz Starogard Gdański, while Franciszek was a Starogardzki KS player. Club career Legia Warsaw Deyna began playing youth football in 1958 at his local club Włókniarz Starogard Gdański. Jan Banaś (born Hans Dieter Banas on 29 March 1943 in the Schöneberg district of Berlin), nicknamed Bubi, is a Polish footballer, who began his career as a youngster playing for AKS Mikołów (1956–59) before moving to Zryw Chorzów in 1959-62, Polonia Bytom (1962–69) and Górnik Zabrze (1969–75). Between his first call-up for Poland in 1964 and his last in 1973, he earned 31 caps, scoring nine goals (or ten, if the controversial goal in the 1973 win over England is credited to him). Aged 32, he was allowed to move to the United States, and then played in a string of countries including Mexico (with Atlético Español), Belgium, and France well after his fortieth birthday. I liga ( pl, Pierwsza liga, ), currently named Fortuna I liga due to its sponsorship by Fortuna, is the men's second professional association football division of the Polish football league system, below the Ekstraklasa and above the II liga via promotion/relegation systems. Run by the Polish Football Association (PZPN) since its inception on 30 May 1948. The league was renamed from Second League (II liga) to First League (I liga) in 2008. It is currently contested by 18 teams, from 2002 all clubs onwards must have a licence, issued by the Association..
