1968 Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship
The 1968 Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship was the 74th staging of the Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Kilkenny County Board in 1887. The championship began on 9 June 1968 and ended on 27 April 1969. Bennettsbridge were the defending champions. On 27 April 1969, Rower-Inistioge won the championship after a 3–09 to 2–07 defeat of Bennettsbridge in the final at Nowlan Park. It was their first ever championship title. It remains their only championship triumph. Rower-Inistioge's Eddie Keher was the championship's top scorer with 3-21. Young Irelands are a Gaelic Athletic Association Club based in Gowran, County Kilkenny, Ireland. Formed in 1952, they are located on the Chapel Road just outside the village. Claus Dunne
Nicholas "Claus" Dunne (1944 – 27 March 2015) was an Irish hurler who played as a centre-forward for Kilkenny. Born in Mooncoin, County Kilkenny, Dunne first arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of twenty when he first linked up with the Kilkenny under-21. He made his senior debut during the 1964-65 league. Dunne went on to enjoy a successful career with Kilkenny and won two All-Ireland medals, two Leinster medals and one National Hurling League medal. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on two occasions. As a member of the Leinster inter-provincial team, Dunne won one Railway Cup medal. At club level he was a one-time championship medallist with Mooncoin. Dunne made 12 championship appearances. He retired from inter-county hurling following the conclusion of the 1973 championship. Paddy Moran (hurler)
Patrick Moran (born 1939) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a midfielder for the Kilkenny senior team. Born in Bennettsbridge, County Kilkenny, Moran first played competitive hurling during his schooling at St. Kieran's College. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he first linked up with the Kilkenny minor team. He made his senior debut during the 1961 championship. Moran subsequently became a regular member of the starting fifteen and won four All-Ireland medals, five Leinster medals and one National Hurling League medal. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on three occasions. As a member of the Leinster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions Moran won three Railway Cup medals. At club level he is an eight-time championship medallist with Bennettsbridge. Throughout his career Moran made 26 championship appearances. Éire Óg GAA was a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Kilkenny, Ireland. The club was almost solely concerned with the game of hurling. History The Éire Óg club was founded in Kilkenny CBS in 1931. Initially adopting blue and white colours and called Young Irelands, the club quickly became Éire Óg and changed to green and white. The club first came to hurling prominence by winning five Kilkenny MAHC titles in six seasons between 1932 and 1937. A number of these schoolboy players from this grade went on to form the nucleus of the club's adult team over the following decade. After winning the Kilkenny JHC title in 1936, Éire Óg secured promotion to the top tier of Kilkenny hurling by claiming the Kilkenny IHC title the following year. James Stephens is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Kilkenny, Ireland. The club was founded in 1887 and has enjoyed equal success in both hurling and Gaelic football. Ballyragget
Ballyragget () is a small town on the river Nore in the north of County Kilkenny in Ireland. Ballyragget is on the N77 north of Kilkenny. As of the 2016 census, it had a population of 1,082 people. Toponymy The name 'Ragget' is Anglo-Norman in origin, and denotes a once-prominent Norman landowner Richard le Ragget who held these lands in the early part of the 13th century. Older names of the settlement include Donoughmore (or Donaghmore; ga, Domhnach Mór "large church") and the even more ancient Tullabarry ( ga, Tualach Bare) - the name of a Celtic or possibly pre-Celtic tribe which held their seat in the vicinity. Erin's Own GAA (Kilkenny)
Erin's Own Gaelic Athletic Association was founded in 1885 and since then has been the main sporting organization in the Castlecomer area in County Kilkenny, Ireland. Erin's Own fielded teams in 11 different grades of hurling and in 7 grades of gaelic football in 2006, and is currently undertaking major development at its new ground, Canon Kearns Park. With a membership of about 20 adults and about 100 youths the club is in the enviable position of having two properties, the first, The Prince Grounds, in the town, and the second, Canon Kearns Park, on the outskirts of the town, towards Kilkenny.
