Gianni Motta
Gianni Motta (born 13 March 1943) is an Italian former bicycle racer who won the 1966 Giro d'Italia. Gianni Motta was born at Cassano d'Adda (Lombardy). His main victories include the Giro d'Italia (1966), a Giro di Lombardia (1964), a Tour de Suisse (1967) and two Tour de Romandie (1966, 1971). Like many before him, he turned to manufacture and sales of bicycles after his racing career. While at in 1968 Motta tested positive for a banned substance and his results in the 1968 Giro d'Italia were removed. Rolf Maurer (16 April 1938 – 6 June 2019) was a Swiss road racing cyclist who competed professionally between 1960 and 1969. In 1964, he won Tour de Suisse and Tour de Romandie. Luis Santamarina (25 June 1942 – 6 February 2017) was a Spanish cyclist. He competed in the team time trial at the 1964 Summer Olympics. He also rode in four editions of the Tour de France. The Tour de Suisse ( en, Tour of Switzerland) is an annual road cycling stage race. Raced over eight days, the event covers two weekends in June, and along with the Critérium du Dauphiné, it is considered a proving ground for the Tour de France, which is on the calendar approximately two weeks after the end of the Tour de Suisse. Since 2011 the event is part of the UCI World Tour, cycling's highest level of professional races. History The race was first held in 1933 and has evolved in timing, duration and sponsorship. Like the Tour de France and the Dauphiné, the Tour de Suisse has several stages with significant mountain climbs in the Swiss Alps and at least one individual time trial. Molteni (cycling Team)
Molteni was an Italian professional road bicycle racing team from 1958 until the end of 1976. It won 663 races, many of them earned by its most famous rider, Eddy Merckx. Other riders included Gianni Motta and Marino Basso, who contributed 48 and 34 wins respectively. The Molteni family continues in cycling with sponsorship of Salmilano. The sponsors Molteni were Italian salami manufacturers based in Arcore, near Milan. History The Molteni team began in 1958 with Renato Molteni as team manager. It was started by Pietro Molteni. The team was also managed by his son, Ambrogio Molteni, a former professional rider. The former Italian road champion, Giorgio Albani, finished his career with Molteni in 1959 and came back two years later as directeur sportif. José María Errandonea Urtizberea (born 12 December 1940) is a former Spanish professional road bicycle racer. He won a stage in the 1967 Tour de France and wore the maillot jaune for one day. He also won a stage in the 1966 Vuelta a España as well as several stages and the 1968 overall of the Euskal Bizikleta. Hans Junkermann
Hennes "Hans" Junkermann (6 May 1934 – 11 April 2022) was a German professional racing cyclist who won 35 road races in 18 seasons from 1956 to 1973. He won the German National Road Race in 1959, 1960, and 1961. Biography Junkermann was born in St. Tönis, near Krefeld, Rhine Province. He excelled in mountainous stage races and hard one-day events. He won nine Six Day races and the European Madison championship in 1965. He rode the Tour de France eight times. Junkermann showed class as an amateur and was approached twice in 1954 to defect to the GDR and become a paid amateur, but he wanted to stay in West Germany and be a professional. He turned professional in 1955 season for the small Bauer team. In May 1957 he won Züri-Metzgete, followed by fourth in the Tour de Suisse, the start of his excellent record in the Swiss tour, a hilly stage race. Peter Post
Peter Post (12 November 193314 January 2011) was a Dutch professional cyclist whose career lasted from 1956 to 1972. Post competed in road and track racing. As a rider he is best remembered for Six-day racing, having competed in 155 races and won 65. Because of this success he was known as “De Keizer van de Zesdaagse” or “The Emperor of the Six Days”. In road racing his main achievements were winning the 1964 Paris–Roubaix and becoming national road race champion in 1963. He was on the podium three times at the La Flèche Wallonne but never won. Post’s other nickname was “de Lange” or “Big Man” because he was tall for a cyclist. Gives nicknames and birth date. After retiring from racing he had success as a Directeur sportif.
